Maybe #107 with Ghost and Big brother Tiso
(Just wanted to add, your writing is Improving a lot, and I'm honestly proud to be one of your followers. Keep doing what makes you happy. ^°.°^
Aww, thank you! :D I’ll see what I can do here.
Ghost, as the little bug she’d met was apparently called, did seem to take a shining to Cloth’s carving efforts. For the most part, they watched, or turned her pieces over and over with care and awe. She’d handed them some wood and her knife at one point, but all they’d done was make a few uncertain scratches and hand it back.
She was happy enough to sit with them and carve while they watched, though. They made for a good audience, quiet and unobtrusive. Their sibling, Hollow, did too, but the big Vessel was much shier.
Sometimes, Tiso lurked around the area. He made a show of not being interested in sitting quietly to watch her carve the last couple times she offered, but he sure did keep glancing at them while she worked.
Today, though, he sat closer, cleaning some prototype weapon. He didn’t sit across from or beside them, no, he sat to the side, but Cloth could tell his eyes weren’t on the tangle of machinery in his hands.
She nudged Ghost, forcing down a giggle at the way they wiggled, surprised out of whatever meditative daze they’d found. “Do you see the way he’s watching you?” she whispered.
They looked to Tiso, then to her.
She nudged them again. “It’s like he’d take a nail strike for you.”
Slowly their head turned. They and Tiso stared at each other, one being much more obvious about it than the other.
Then, all of a sudden, they tugged on Cloth’s arm, then her cloak, with a surprising amount of strength and a definite desperation.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
They waved at Tiso and tugged harder.
She laughed, wrapping her arm around them for a side hug. “It’s all right! He’s not going to get hurt! He’s your friend!”
Their movement slowed. Their head dipped.
She squeezed them again. “Mmhm. He’s your friend.”
