Well, it has been three years in the making but the release date is coming up within a month now. We are just finishing up the last mix, which has been a bouncy number called The Great Escape, which we ended up playing with so much, and having so much fun, that at times it seemed as though we lost our way.
The title of the CD is still up for debate but seems to keep coming back to the idea of being in a hurricane, which is what the last three years have felt like; the world whirling around me, while I stand calmly in the middle. There are elements of earth, water, fire and sky in this music as well. And of course; love. The greatest mystery of all, love has so many different meanings, many of which are explored here. There is love that leaves you feeling lost, and love that you swear is the only true reality. Also love and regret, love and giving up ones life for someone else, and love that makes you feel so joyously alive.
The photos for the project have come about in a surprising way. I simply rely on friends to pick up their cameras and start shooting. This has happened after intense talks about art, music, and life, which lead to the action, and the clicking away of a shutter. When we look at the photos we are all surprised. This has been the fun part of sharing the creative spirit with each other. Music inspires art, art in turn inspires the music, books get me thinking, and travels loosens me up to the point where I think that anything is possible.
