Day 18

So the daily update thing not going so well.  Still, the writing thing going alright considering. Here's the latest.

Momma smiled at the man and reassured him that he had done more than enough by showing them where to go next.  "Oh, but you don't know for sure that he'll be there yet! And it's nearly dark now. You can't continue on your journey so soon.  The children look exhausted.  Listen, stay here for the night. I have plenty of space and you can have rooms all to yourselves and right next to each other. We'll put the children in one room in the middle so everyone will be safe and sound. And after a big breakfast tomorrow you can continue on your way!" He smiled so broadly and like such a proud grandfather that they didn't have the heart to tell him no.  Momma smiled up at Papa, and Papa nodded.  Everyone thanked the man and followed him up to the rooms.

Well, that'll be fun.

Day 14

Holy cow! I haven't updated here in forever! Alright. I'm now up to just under 22,000 words. I know, crappy pace lately but I've had a lot going on. Almost everyone in the house is down with Bronchitis, aside from me and the Husband with his broken foot.  Hoo boy fun times.  Anyway, here's a snippet from the most recent section, and I will do much better at both my word count and making sure that I keep everyone all updated.

The Werewolves had told Papa that the only place that had the scent of the Wicked Witch in any kind of recent time was in the Black Forest. They would get the family there and meet their contacts from one of the packs in that area who would lead the Wilde's to where the Wicked Witch was. The Black Forest Werewolves had even more of hatred for the Wicked Witch and even less reason to show any restraint. Most people in the old country could tell a bad Witch from a good one, here they just kinda lumped them all in together.

Day 9

Ok, so I need to work a little bit on this scheduling thing.  Saturday is typically my one and only day off a week. The Husband takes all the kids to his mothers and me and the bestie sit around and veg to horror movies and ignore all responsibilities.  I forgot about the fact that by the time we're all done I'm either not in the correct mood for writing, or I've had a little bit too much wine for it.  Regardless I ended up not writing at all. That's ok, I can write enough to overcome it, and next time I'll just write some in the morning before everyone leaves and we get settled in.  Sorry for the lack of words and post for yesterday. Will def work on that!

and now for Day 8.

Not quite as prolific of writing today as I have been doing, but I got a lot of that nasty plotting ahead thing done today so..at least there's that. Now there's nothing in between me and the climactic scene of the book except my aching and stiff wrists.  So on that note, here's the snippet for today..

"In every story that has a Witch in it, she's there. She's the Wicked Witch with the apple, the one with the staff, the one in all of them. All of those fairy tales, all of those movies, they're all based on her. She the most Wicked thing that ever was. Legends say that she joined in the original spell that the Nameless King cast over all the world, and where he was taken out of time she put herself in. She became more famous for her deeds and what she had done than she ever had before because there was so much missing from everywhere else. Instead of everyone remembering all of the good things that the Nameless King had done, they vaguely remembered the bad that the Wicked Witch had done. I didn't really believe she existed. Nobody does anymore." Momma Witch sighed and put her head in her hands. "Well," Said Momma Frog, "That may be, but we know that she exists now. So, how do we find her." Momma Witch shook her head, "I don't know. I don't know anyone that would. How do you find a story?" Baby Girl looked up from Momma Frogs lap at that and blinked her furry eyes. "In a library." She said.

And I say not as prolific, but it brings my word count up to over 16k. So still keeping up the pace fairly well I suppose.

Hooray, back on track!

Alright so I broke my 10k mark this afternoon. I'll be writing more later tonight but for now I'm happy with my progress.  Hope ya'll are happy with what you're doing too. Here's a little snippet from this most recent bit.  I had to revise some and I got to separate what I thought was the first chapter into the first chapters and that has made all the difference.  And it helped get rid of some of the writers block I was dealing with there a couple of days ago.  So, another Hooray for that. 

Eventually that afternoon wound to an end and Momma called everyone into the house for dinner. She had one of the kids favorites on the table for today. She had slow cooked, fresh off the vines green beans cooked in with little creamer potatos. There was corn on the cob, grilled pork chops, and southern style corn bread. Momma had also set the apple pie up in the window to cool while dinner was on the table. That way everyone knew that if they ate like they were supposed to then there was some seriously goodness for desert. One whiff of Momma's apple pie was usually all that it took for anyone to eat up. Apple pie was one of Momma's specialties.

Day 5...Not as good of a day.

I gotta admit, today I did not really have my voice as well as usual.  I was lagging and had to literally force myself to sit here and work because i'm exhausted.  It's been a seriously long day of regular grown up life stuff.  Didn't even get home until after 3 today, and didn't get to start writing until after 9:30.  Long, tiring day, and I'm just waiting to go to bed now. But in the meantime I got a little bit done on the Villains section of the story..so here's a taste.

Silence lay on the ground as far as the eye could see, just like it was a blanket that made the whole world hush. High in his tower the Evil Wizard looked out over everything and calculated. Something was wrong in his mighty empire built on fear and betraya, but he couldn't put his finger on just what it was. Fog rolled in slowly across the farm fields and only made the already unnatural silence even more obvious. It wasn't right for the whole world to be this quiet. There were not wolves howling, dogs barking, no crickets chirping, nothing tonight. Not even the wind rustling through the leaves on th trees. Just and erie stillness that seemed to tell that there was something bad coming. Something that was even bad enough to get the attention of the Evil Wizard.

Day 4 update

Well, I managed to attend the virtual write-in anyway. Not sure how I feel about it though. It was not what I expected.  Either way, I did it. And I got my word count in for the day. I'm up to 8,000 words now.  I've decided that when I reach 10k words I can get myself a treat for keeping with it so well.  Here's to hoping that the darling elusive muse sticks with me! In the meantime here's another little snippet from what I did today. 

Little Man's room was rather exactly what you might expect. If you expected it to be something like a cross between a dragons hold and a little boys room. There were building blocks, tanks, and toys all over. Most of them were put away but there was a definite theme among the toys that were left out. The ones that were put away were all very carefully laid in thier tubs or buckets exactly the same way that they had come in, the ones that were being played with were all being played with at the same time. You could walk in one day on a terrific battle scene between pirates and zombies, and the next day you could walk in on the army battling dinosaurs. Everything that was not involved in what was being played with was carefully put away exactly right, but anything that was being played with would be strewn across the room in the most hideous reenactment of battles that there ever was. There would be different body parts of figures that could be taken apart would be laying scattered all over the floor. His bed was always a disheveled pile of blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals the size of himself.

Really Nano?

So, nanowrimo is having a virtual write-in, which I would love since there is nearly no chance of me ever making a real one.  And then I get all excited and I go to join in and it's at 3 this afternoon.  

OK. So I guess I don't HAVE to pick the kids up at school, right? Sigh, oh well.  We'll see how it works out.
