we are gonna ignore how Lloyd looks nothing like Eury or Eos T-T maybe he takes after Lyra’s side
also, the hideously tall heights of my characters -angels are naturally taller and bigger than a human, and that’s in their hybrid form (wings fully extended but no other bird features visible) , their full anthropomorphic form (each angel looks different but basically they usually have bird talons, wings and feathers over skin) is freakish tall.
Also I realised I can’t measure them in feet because as @stew4 very avidly explained to me in detail the conundrum about the size of feet in Roshar compared to humans, leading to a whole different measurement system, I DONT WANT TO MAKE A FEET CHART OF ANGELS, so I’m just gonna clarify, feet are measured in HUMAN feet.
Lloyd
Human form = 6 feet (the thing is, Lloyd and other powerful angels can actually control what their human appearance looks like - and hide giveaway features through a magic veil. Eury can’t do this so their human form is ‘natural’)
Angel hybrid = 7’2
Anthropomorphic = 10.
Eos
She does not use a human form at any point because she was once a human and she believes it would give her away as a phoney but when she was human, 5’11
Hybrid form = 9 foot
… ya dont wanna see her anthropomorphic form!
Eury
Eury in comparison is considered short for an angel but slightly tall for a human.
human form = 5’10 or 5’11
hybrid form = 6
and they have not been able to achieve anthropomorphic form.
Zephyr
Zephyr is quite tall even for angel standards
human = 6’3
hybrid (though they haven’t gone into this form for centuries) = 7’5
He’s a Crow-demon so he doesn’t have an anthropomorphic form.

I feel like I never actually explained why he did it politically -- or rather, how it happened. Cause it certainly wasn't meant to happen which is the absolute kicker for Eury and Eos.
Zephyr was originally gonna hold Lloyd ransom, use him as a pawn to blackmail Eos into reforming the system and allowing the crows to rule. That was the goal of the rebellion (it didn't start out that ambitious, but they saw so much overwhelming support from crows that they upped the level)
The confrontation only got to the point it did because of Zephyr's personal feelings and... Eury's involvement. Which is why they are both suffering from guilt -- one repressed it, the other devastatingly accepted and used as a weapon to hurt themself whenever something remotely bad happens -- so many years later. They both haven't moved on.
So all Zephyr had to do to get access to Lloyd was, ofc, through manipulating Eury (so much for "I don't lie". I guess lying is okay if it's for the 'greater good'). He put on a remorseful face and convinced Eury he was maybe gonna call it off, he just wanted to talk, because Pyrrha /a friend of his died or smth). And Eury believed in Lloyd's diplomatic ability so let him right through. (Even though Eury never liked him that much, he'd been kind to them a few times and that was enough to activate the empathy node)
Eury failed a critical insight check here. They rolled a 1. Failed to recognise that in fact, Zephyr would keep on trudging right along in his revolution even if one of his most beloved comrades had died (and quite a few had already). He prevented himself from forming a secure attachment to any of them (apart from maybe pyrrha who he kinda used as a replacement for lloyd)
So, with almost no problems Zephyr now knew where Lloyd was, what he was planning, etc, and was able to adequately prepare. He then flew (he still had his wings. When he was banished they slowly rotted but he cut the remains off himself, and he hated using them anyways because he did not feel like an angel anymore. It caused him a lot of body dysmorphia. GODSDAMNIT why are the interesting fantasy parts in the PAST not the PRESENT?)
Anyways for the actual confrontation, Zeph kidnapped him and Eos said she'd end the war... if Zeph gave him back. It was a back and forth negotiation for ages, but ofc Zephyr predicted that Eos was simply buying time for her subordinates to find Lloyd's location and kill Zeph. So Zeph had to make it seem like he was harming him. Eos is stubborn AsF but Zeph is stubborner.
Eury's incompetence really shines here, they were never a great commander, leader or warrior, they never even really learned battle strategies either. They were too sheltered by Lloyd, and dismissed by everyone else because of Lloyd being the brighter star. Even though they had mandatory training and tutoring they were just... like not good at it bro.
So they blamed themself a lot for not being able to save Lloyd.
When the confrontation finally happens, the WHOLE ASS FAMILY is there, but only them, the rest of the citizens have already fled the hell outta there due to the burning -- and Zephyr accidentally kills Lloyd. He didn't mean it, but he had a knife to Lloyd's throat, Eos in front of him, and it kind of just.... happened.
Eury was endangered by Zeph's rebels. Lloyd lunged for them. Eos hadn't lifted a finger for Eury's sake but now Lloyd's sure grabbed her attention. They grapple. Zephyr has him pinned in the same hold he used to pin Lloyd’s enemies under— and out of instinct, slits his throat.
And that's how it goes.
And I guess this is one of the things that Wingbound is about. Leaving the past behind, but being unable to ignore the past, you have to confront it and nurse the scars, and it kinda rebirths you. It takes a lot of pain to get where you wanna be. Pain so blinding it legit overwrites your entire system and forces a restart.
And people handle that differently. Some characters can't escape because the grip is too strong, their mind collapses, or they resort to extreme worldviews and double down on the very flaws that caused that pain in the first place. They say, "That's just who I am now and nothing can change it." Other characters are luckier, maybe they had one person who believed in them, or maybe they managed to enjoy slivers of life long enough to get them to wake up every day instead of ending it all. or they entered a new, better world, even only briefly, but glimpsed enough to try and pursue it. Or they simply honed their introspective skills.
But yeah, Eury and Zeph meet a lot of characters from both the past and present. And new. Way back at the beginning of the WB, Zephyr decided to spare this kid of his enemy. The kid ages faster than a normal human from ages 0-20s due to their half demon DNA (kinda like a dog) and gets to meet zeph and eury.

It sometimes fascinates me that there's such a violent contrast between moments of camaraderie and then simmering, explosive resentment between Zeph and Eury. that they can even have a 'normal' relationship at all. They're usually high strung from stress from being literal fugitives (well, Zeph is, and Eury is stressed tf out from the any small thing possibly butterfly effecting their mission's failure, and trying to adapt to the mortal world where many of the utopic things just don't exist. Like there's a gender hierarchy in the mortal world) and being hunted down by a mad scientist who wants to experiment on Eury, but, that's not the point.
Zeph and Eury sometimes have rare conflict free moments where, they'll be like, hey, actually you're not so bad after allat, you did save my life just now, I severely underestimated you. And Eury will be like, oh, you're not a complete moral-less, barbarian demon either, you actually had some morals, like--
--and then Zephyr does something so moralistic and violent against someone who he believes is wrong (regardless of whether they were actually immoral according to societal ethics), that Eury gets reminded that it's that exact same moral compass that he used to justify harming/killing their brother. (After the fact happened. He didnt mean to kill him)
and it's small things that set Eury off and remind them of what Zephyr did. Eury is more prone to outbursts than Zephyr, zephyr tends to let it build up but Eury makes their resentment pretty clear usually by blowing up and attacking him for his past/current wrongs. But yeah zeph usually isn't even aware that what he does sets them off and that's the thing that pisses Eury off. But the truth is zephyr kind of separated himself from his past self, (insert the Zuko joke here), so he's actively suppressing the guilt and memories, while Eury clings onto them. (It's literally their life mission to revive Lloyd and ascend again)
Ofc Eury hasn't gotten over the death but they also get reminded of actually how much they disliked Zephyr while he and Lloyd were friends. The attention Zephyr 'stole' from Lloyd pissed them off so bad.
And Eury being mad pretty much ruins any careful equilibrium they have set up, and leads to stretches of time between them where nothing is really… okay. Interestingly, though, Eury sometimes doubles down on their own faith in their mission, as they cement further and further their belief that they are utterly alone and there has never been someone who truly loved them since Lloyd. And ofc that fuels their cycle of anger at Zephyr at taking away that one tether to life from them. And they wanna prove everyone wrong by completing their mission and winning over Eos.
They're so completely homesick which is ABSURD to me because home hasn't felt like home for them since forever. It's a frigid ice palace of discipline and isolation. (Idk why I wrote such a nonsensical and absurd thing)
and zephyr at first responds by being nonchalant. at first, he really didn’t GAF about what this random angel - his dead best friend's little sibling -- thought about him. I mean, has he ever, for anyone?
But him being self-righteous (secretly, he puts on a front of being forced into the role or whatever but in actuality he believes his morals are infallible. Kinda like Eos in a way), every attack started to gnaw at him. And he kinda considered Eury a ride or die at this point, eury provided a lot of "balance" Zephyr felt he needed to regulate himself (mainly his demon side, it comes with downsides like sanity and questioning the validity of your own reality).
and also, he is indeed facing guilt about what happened. zephyr had a very sort of co dependent attachment to lloyd so obviously it took a lot for him to recognise that and …. well, kill him (extreme reaction, I know, but it wasn't the main reason I swear)
