Rolf/ Luna: Rolf meeting Xenophilius for the first time. For llunalovegood.
"I trust you’ll take care of my Luna."
"Daddy!" The said-blonde stepped through the door, her eyes wider than ever. "Your manners!"
Rolf seemed unaffected, his head bowed, “Mr. Lovegood.”
Xenophilius promptly stepped forward to kiss his daughter and ignored Rolf’s outstretched hand towards him. “Well, are you going to stay at the doorway or come in? You’re letting the cold in.”
Luna frowned slightly at her father before taking Rolf’s hand and tugging on it so they could enter the kitchen. Xenophilius followed them in and made sure that his glare was directed at the other man, hardly being subtle about it. If Rolf noticed however, he did a good job ignoring it.
"Daddy, this is Rolf Scamander," Luna introduced airily, "and, Rolf, this is my daddy. He’s not usually this unwelcoming, you know."
"So Luna tells me that you’re a Magizoolist," Xenophilius said. His voice sounded challenging.
"Yes, I am. My whole family are very interested in creatures — I think it’s a tradition passed down from my grandfather, Newt Scamander," Rolf added for good measure.
"I see." There was no note change in Xenophilius’ voice, making it very difficult to determine whether he was impressed or not. "And you met my daughter whilst traveling?"
"Also correct," Rolf gave a glance at Luna, who smiled encouragingly, "We were both looking for the Crumple Horned Snorcacks in Sweden."
Xenophilius nodded but Luna could tell that her father was slowly softening up. Mote questions were passed back and for; Xenophilius with awkward questions that he thought would throw him off, and Rolf responding with the same polite and formal tone. Luna tried to inject her own opinions in every now and then but she knew it was a conversation between the two men only, especially knowing her father was ‘testing’ her boyfriend, in a way.
After a while, she told them that she was going to collect some Pimplies down by the lake so they could cook the soup for it. She was hesitant about leaving them alone together for a moment but she saw the determined look in Rolf’s eyes, and she knew he’d be fine. She trailed outside, into the fields and hills that surrounded their home, and she closed her eyes for a bit, letting the wind run through her.
Unbeknownst to her, both men’s eyes had followed her outside the window and they shared a common smile as they watched her.
"Take care of her," Xenophilius said quietly, after a while, "She’s special, my Luna."
"I know," said Rolf simply.
When Luna had returned, she was glad to see both of them talking warmer than they had before she had left.
