If I ever had to be a courtesy clerk/bagger again for whatever reason I would literally just quit on the spot. I would move back in with my parents I don’t care. A department full of mostly 16/17 year olds working their first job, being sent out to grab carts for an hour at a time in 90+ degree weather and ice cold pouring down rain, bag people’s groceries neatly but also as fast as humanly possibly and even still it’s not fast enough, clean the bathrooms, take out the trash, clean up spills, do floor sweeps, even sometimes clean up around the dumpsters where there’s broken glass and swarming bees and maggots in rotting meat with only a broom and dust pan, and any other odds and ends job that no specific department is responsible for, when there are already not enough employees scheduled at any given point to keep up with all the work and the rush of the customers, only to make minimum wage and be talked down to and called stupid by all the other employees in the store, the managers, and the customers......like.....there’s gotta be something illegal about that
