(This idea connects to my first ask about you btw!!) so since you liked the idea of venomized Spidey!Reader as Viltrumite!Invincibles right handperson -- this ask is based around that, assuming he's developing feelings for them (and probably hidden away feelings for them even before Spidey!Reader joined the viltrum empire finally being felt)
When the both of them go to other planets, he tries to give them stuff that the species on said planet would give to their significant other, the reader just doesn't care at all due to how the viltrumites "convinced" venomized Spidey! Reader to join (Viltrumite!Invincible can thank conquests yapping ahh for that💔)
After some time, his crush on the reader becomes so painfully obvious (to the other viltrumites at least)
Like, when Viltrumite!Invincible is drinking coffee (don't ask why he's doing that 🥀) and his cup is just this
( btw shout out to my aunt for having this)
THE SPIDERMAN CUP IM ON THE FLOOR SKAJSJDJSJ😭😭
awww the cuties ever (i say as if the viltrumite empire didn’t quite literally brainwash reader) ANYWAY MOVING FORWARD… it’s either reader is indifferent or literally does NOT understand what he’s trying to do/downright oblivious
reader just looking at whatever tomfooleries he’s committing like
i mean OF COURSE i gotta make them reciprocate for the plot but i really do think it’ll be an excruciating slow burn for mark🥀🥀
PLEASE TELL ME YOUR SEON NYO THOUGHTS! I found her a very entertaining character as well, and her confident act was so cute like in the six legged pentathlon where shes like “ugh what took you so long to find me🙄” forever wishing she was a finalist she had so much more presence and is sufficiently dastardly enough to be a good enemy…or couldve been great to show us a side of her humanity
THANK YOUUU for asking i have many many seon-nyeo thoughts!! 🎉 I have to put this under a read more bc I talked so much LMAOAO my apologies for the massive chunks of writing ahead 🤫
I absolutely adore her. I always tend to latch onto antagonistic characters because I like to analyze what makes them act the way they do, so I’m sure that’s a part of it, but I also think that her overall character is very very interesting and should’ve been delved into WAY more than it actually was.
First of all—she’s so funny. Like genuinely she had me giggling on multiple occasions and i looove her silly unique way of speaking. Her actions and words always have such an overdramatic flair to them, and I love seeing that in a character!! She was such a fun addition, and it still boggles my mind the amount of animosity she tends to receive from the fanbase. I understand everyone has different tastes in characters obviously, but the amount of people during s2/pre-s3 era who immediately turned to calling her degrading names all because she…threatened to put a curse on people…??? We got characters out here killing and murdering, but Seon-nyeo says something mean and all the sudden she’s the worst person on the planet?? 😭 Genuinely blows my mind. I understand ppl disliking her, but the amount of ppl who acted like she was the devil incarnate, especially in the s2 era….very odd imo. And I must say! I see this sort of fanbase reaction to female antagonists all the time and it makes my eye twitch. Irks me to my very soul.
ANYWAYS. I think the storyline of her gathering a little group of devotees was a very interesting choice, and the fact that they practically disregarded this entire storyline and refused to delve into it further is…..aughhh!! It’s crazy to me. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but I am not even remotely fond of the writing decisions made in s3, and the treatment of Seon-nyeo’s character in particular is one of my biggest gripes. Personally, I had hope that they would use Seon-nyeo’s character as a way to portray how religion is often showcased to people who are in dire situations and need something to cling to, and how intense unwavering devotion without any questioning or critical thinking can lead to detrimental situations and unhealthy mindsets. It’s clear to the viewer that Seon-nyeo is using them for her own gain, but not to the followers themselves, which leads to an interesting dynamic. Now, one could argue that they did showcase this (her immediately abandoning her followers for her own benefit–a correlation to how figureheads in large religious institutions are often doing things for their own gain), but to be frank, I don’t think they went into it nearly enough. The way they killed off her character in general was absurd. I hate to sound mean but it was abysmally stupid. They could’ve had Min-su hallucinate and kill aaaaany random ass character, but instead decided to throw Seon-nyeo in that position…for what?? It’s like I was witnessing the writers randomly decide they just didn't want to deal with her anymore. Everything about it was lackluster.
What pains me is that her character could have been so much more. I truly believe in my heart that she should’ve been a finalist! They could’ve had a scenario of Seon-nyeo becoming a finalist alongside some of her followers, and have her ultimately reveal her self-serving nature to them, making for a more impactful abandonment (I also think it’d be interesting to see how she would react in general in this situation, because I don’t think Seon-nyeo is some unfeeling monster, and I do think she’d feel remorse. She seems like the type to bolster herself with confident words and dramatic actions as a way to make herself appear larger and more capable in a terrifying situation – she wants a leadership role and control in order to reassure herself and ignore her own fear. But that’s just the way I see it personally) They could’ve kept Seon-nyeo abandoning her followers in hide and seek but then make it out and become a finalist on her own, displaying her demeanor without any devotees to rely on. Would she continue to antagonize, or would she flounder under the pressure of having no one left believe in her words? What would her thoughts on the baby be? <- using this as a way to explore her character more would've been 10x more interesting then the ridiculous ass finalist lineup we were given, imo.
There’s so much they could’ve done with her…it really irritates me how they handled her character in s3, and it saddens me to see that most of the fanbase seems to hate her 😭 She was such a fun and unique addition, and I think it would’ve been great if they highlighted her sinister nature instead of killing her off so rapidly. They could’ve had her become an even more intense antagonist, highlighting her selfishness, or they could’ve given her a bit of redemption via more in-depth character exploration, and instead they did neither. Yikes.
Ahem ahem. I love her a lot. Also:
IM SO GLAD TO HEAR THISSS LOLL giving her cameos is my fav thing ever. She genuinely might be one of the most fun characters to write of all time, she’s so odd and bizarre and it’s so fun to try and capture that in writing :P Given that Thanos, Nam-gyu, and Seon-nyeo are my top three favorite characters that I’m crazily fixated on, they’ve become a little trio in my mind…which I know makes no sense in canon. But…..!!!! It makes sense in my mind 💆♂️ they are all so awesome so obv they MUST be a trio. Seon-nyeo has been an honorary team thanos member in my head ever since I wrote “don’t get sentimental” and while i know it’s nonsensical I just can’t bring myself to care LMFAOOO. Someone give her an invite to team thanos immediately!!! Let her in let her in!
Wait oh my god imagine a nam-gyu and seon-nyeo s3 interaction…………..imagine,......ohhh what could have been. Nam-gyu Seon-nyeo antag finalist duo oh my GOD….clenches my fist. Nam-gyu with the cross as religious symbolism, Seon-nyeo recruiting ppl who are panicked and need someone to turn to…taps finger to my chin. She could’ve used Thanos’ death as a talking point to make him feel guilty or ashamed or useless, locking in on him when she notices him going through withdrawals because she senses his desperation and thinks it’ll be easier to make him join up with her because of it…hello can anyone hear me……aughhh!!
I’m probably getting too self indulgent here idk LOLLL i just think in general we could’ve gotten so many more cool character interactions. instead they gave us barely any 💔
But anyways I’m very relieved to hear that you like her appearances in my writing!! Thank you :) I was actually just thinking abt it and I started to worry that ppl found it annoying or something LMFAOO 😭 i just think she should be everywhere all the time bc she’s so cool. She has unlimited cameo privileges from me bc i simply love her so dearly ❤️ thangyu and their secret third thing…a shaman they barely know who is really weird and off-putting and constantly points out their sexual tension for some reason. A lovely and very fun dynamic to write abt 😸
