Yup, TIC really dug himself a grave trying to keep the Demon Bull royal family's power centered on himself. And since the Celestial and Demonic court culture is very similar to the one once practiced on earth (the former more so) - this kinda stuff would happen, although not as commonly in the modern day.

DBK himself was once considered kinda weird as a king for only having one wife (at least in the LMK verse) and not having a large harem. DBK was so appalled that the demonic courts thought so little of his perfect wife Princess Iron Fan, that he got himself kicked out of his parents palace in the Underworld. When TIC got his ass beat by SWK, he dragged himself home to find out that he owned all the Demon Bull Family's Underworld property by default.

TIC in the Journey to the West is mentioned to have at least one dedicated follower/servant (human mind you), so loyal as to attempt to fight Sha Wujing to stop him from getting the spring water. It wouldn't be hard for TIC to have a loyal subject inserted amongst DBK and PIF's entourage for "pruning" purposes. But yes, the second PIF identifies which servant was in cahoots with TIC; she literally rips them apart with her wind powers, crying the whole time.

These incidents and realizations come about the same time PIF is tackling her own jealously towards Xiaotian's luck in pregnancy. After a bunch of loose ends have to be cleaned up (TIC now being well... dead complicates Underworld stuff), DBK and PIF decide that a long visit to their son and his future spouse is needed.

Xiaotian and Red are happy to let them stay and talk for the night. One or two details are let loose about how TIC had been interferring with their lives long before the pilgrimage days. Red almost breaks the glass in his hands from anger before him and Xiaotian drop everything to embrace PIF and DBK in a hug. Lots of tears are shed.

Note: Ironbull may attempt for more children after this incident, despite the still-active curse upon PIF from her mother.

Is the Asshole Murderer Brother/Uncle the point where Yuebei unlocks her Immortal Killing power? She loves her family, what other time would be perfect to get that?

Or is that exclusive to JTTS!Yuebei?

Because it would open a bunch of questions as to HOW she has the exact same power as in the book. She has a name they liked and size can be explained away by not going to doctors who would have told them the do's and don't's, but you can't explain the power the same way away.

Is the universe just in a funny mood when the reincarnation of the bone demon that wanted to destroy everything to remake it got the power to kill immortals, or did the JTTS author had the power to see the future?

This is the most wonderful way to introduce Yuebei's powers thank you.

I started laughing cus I just thought of TIC being a broken husk on the floor, and baby Yuebei (Lunar Node-lets were too young for a sitter) just toddles in, bops him on the head with her fave toy (a plush cartoon skeleton); and does the -1 HP of damage that sends him straight to King Yama.

The rest of the family are just ??? cus damn, TIC really was beaten badly if a hit from a baby is was ultimately killed him. Or they assume TIC died from his consecutive ass-whoopings and the bonking was just the final insult.

Yuebei was only like two years old and just knew that "Man made MK danger cry-chirp, Man must be Bonked." So she bonked.

Yuebei be drawning on tulpa-like powers - she's named for a fantasical immortal-killing daughter of the Monkey King, and thats what she'll be; subconciously or not. Mystic Monkey powers do be like that.

Bai He meanwhile gets a small chill down her spine from dimensions away. She is at home babysitting the Eclipse Twins with her eldest bros help. Cus no way Nezha or Chenxiang are allowed in the Underworld, or want to go to TIC's place.

From their very weak memories of the incident (again babies) + kid-friendly retellings by the adults, The Lunar Nodelets become super protective of their baby nieces/nephews/niblings, even though they themselves are barely two years older than the eldest twins.

As for the reincarnation of LBD becoming a skull-wielding immortal killing warrior? That was deliberate on my part >:3

Angsty Writing Prompt S20: Baby nightmares

The True Immortal Compliant was once one of the most feared immortals in the region. Having the bloodline of the Netherealm and being in ‘close’ allyship with his brother Demon Bull King, there wasn’t anything or anyone who could touch him.

A statement he would soon redact.

The first was that blasted simian, Sun Wukong.

He didn’t really know what exactly that wretched ape had come for, but he wanted the well water, and well, TIC was not going to give it to him.

His arrogance cost him his golden hook. The physical blow hurt almost as much as the blow to his pride. This was the thanks he got for attempting to defend himself and his family title.

Bah!

TIC swore no one else would land a hit like that again.

The second hit came from Buddy.

A perfectly healthy calf had been floating down the stream when he found her. She had been crying her little lungs out until the immortal managed to fish her out. The calf immediately snuggled close to his chest and promptly fell asleep.

TIC swore he was going to leave her at the entrance of the Kingdom of Women the following day.

That plan went out the window very quickly.

Soon, the kingdom he had once terrified had quickly become his new home were he could properly raise his new daughter.

“WWWAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!”

His daughter that still had nightmares during thunderstorms.

The bull dragged himself out of his bed and made his way to the cradle. Carefully scooping the child up in one swoop, bouncing her and shushing her gently. It was one of the many tricks the mothers of the kingdom had shared and one that he was grateful for.

“Are you ready to let your father sleep?” He muttered.

The child’s eyes blinked away the tears and slowly started falling back to sleep.

TIC didn’t dare put his daughter down, he knew her tricks. She was becoming just as cunning as he had once been.

“You’re doing a great job.”

The new voice nearly made the bull jump. The Emperess was standing at the doorway, smiling sweetly at the fatherly display. TIC felt his face was on fire. The woman walked over and gently kissed the sleeping child’s head.

“She can go back to her crib now.”

“… I will hold her a little longer. Just to make sure she doesn’t pull another trick.”

The Empress chuckled softly. “Well then, see you in the morning.”

The faint smell of blossoms followed the woman out of the room, leaving the staring father and daughter alone. As gently as the bull could, he carefully deposited his daughter back into the crib and sighed.

There was no doubt her naps would increase for the next three days. But it was better than dealing with a grouchy calf that headbutted everything in sight.

“Goodnight little one.”

In a nutshell...

Much like how TIC isn't close with his brother or rest of the family, he isn't close with JFP either.

He doesn't even know that she has a kid.

The best thing he can do is just keep to himself. tIC never needed his family before and was doing just fine! All the family he wants is his little girl.

JFP has heard of rumors of TIC living with someone, but doesn't look into it. She has more important and pressing things to worry about than some family gossip.
