SWEET CHAOS

spooky season. despite how little heejin may seem to care about ... many things ... she’d always enjoyed halloween, eyes glowing whenever she spotted anyone dressed up in a creative costume. if she’s being honest, heejin sort of wishes that she’d had more confidence to go dressed as whatever she wanted to. but alas, she never knew if she could quite pull of the look as well as other girls. instead, she opted for something simple; a vampire. basic, she knows, but she can’t screw up much dressed as a vampire. 

still, heejin, being herself, somehow manages to screw up one way or another and finds her shoe with a broken heel.

“yangyang!” the moment she spots her friend, she breaks out into a smile, beaming as she walks (floats? do vampires float?) towards him, despite her broken heel. “boo!” she lifts her hands up and attempts to make a scary expression, but she’s smiling too wide, excited to see her friend.

“happy halloween! do i look scary?” she asks, furrowing her brows in an attempt, to once again, look scary. “i was on my way to look at the booths, i’m hoping they sell some sort of spooky slippers or shoes... since...” she looks down at her own pair and frowns. “how about you?”

         jaehyun is a chronic complainer when it comes to meaningless things; his actual concerns tend to get buried deep down beneath piles of minor inconveniences he encounters daily, as any other person does. it’s easy to ignore the crisis he’s going through when he focuses on problems that are so fleeting that they may not even be considered problems in the grand scheme of things, such as the fact that he didn’t like a small piece of the advice that the palm reader had given him. 

            yangyang was the first person he came across after leaving his less-than-spectacular encounter with madam choi, which unfortunately means that he’ll be the next victim of his pointless rambles. jaehyun doesn’t even bother to stop and survey the boy to make sure that he’s not busy or preoccupied with friends. instead, he approaches him immediately and quite hastily, forgoing a proper greeting in favor of beginning his rant. “ ask me what i just did, ” jaehyun says, falling into pace with him. “ do it, ask me. ”

Midnight Urges

Dejun is still awake, poking around in the kitchen, when Yangyang shows back up; taking a second to examine the other boy’s face, he finds it to be free of bruises and swelling, and thereby comes to the conclusion that tonight’s gig had been a DJing one. 

“How was...” Dejun makes a motion with his hand that is meant to be that of turning a vinyl record on a turntable, “What do you even do? Do you just...click like...on a laptop...turntables have to be like ancient history, right?”

He snorts, closing the refrigerator with a sigh, muttering a quiet curse to himself; one look n the fridge and it was clear that three bachelors lived in the apartment, as its contents were mostly comprised of condiments, and the miscellaneous food items that were present weren’t the sort that might be combined into a palatable meal. He places a hand to his belly, which grows tight with hunger. It wasn’t apparent from looking at him, thanks to his Xiao family inherited metabolism, but Dejun ate quite a lot.

“If I ordered chicken would you eat some? Is that...crazy at this time of night?” Dejun asks with a grin, glancing at the analogue clock on their microwave before glancing back at Yangyang, “All we have is...mayonnaise and kimchi and radish...”
