Reading LN 16 after I started to translate the first pages for myself from the Japanese version made me stumble upon some sentences I just had to take a closer look at.

What is that “ahem” about, Kevin?!

気だるそうな妓女たちはなんともいえぬ香りを発しており、左膳は気まずそうに薬屋へと入っていく。(Japanese version)

The indolent courtesans gave off quite an indescribable scent and Sazen entered the apothecary shop in embarrassment. (My translation)

I don’t see where the “ahem” is coming from, Kevin! Is that supposed to be something funny?

Later, in chapter 15, Lahan’s letter got this “ahem” as well, twice! So I looked up the Japanese version of it.

うちとてよそのことを文句言えるような家じゃないからねえ。(Japanese version.)

I think our family is not exactly in the position to complain about other people regarding that matter, right? (My translation)

Okay, my Japanese is definitely still basic, but this sentence suddenly has a completely different meaning, without any “ahem”. If I’m wrong here, please tell me.
