Do you have any head cannons for Hush Hush? Was their name actually Hush? How did the other A4's treat them after they were turned into an A4? Or were they just doomed to be a social outcast since day one?

Their name wasn’t Hush, they never earned their name and were only referred to as 10000 or ‘Ten’. The other A4’s outcast them and didn’t consider them their sibling. Even the A3 Pacific’s outcast them, the term ‘Galloping Sausage’ a huge insult to almost all Gresley engines.

Ten found solace in other engines that weren’t designed by Gresley though. A few A1 or A2 Peppercorn’s found a friend in them but otherwise they were pretty much rejected by most of the engines on the LNER.

They don't like it but Union is a no nonesence and tough lady. No one who values their boiler is ever going to start something with her.

A real life failed experiment made by Sir Nigel Gresley. It was an engine based on a marine steam engine that used higher pressure boiler than a normal engine.

It was called the 'Galloping Sausage' for it's shape which is why Gordon probably took offense to being compared to one of Gresley's failures. It's boiler was scrapped and later turned in an A4.
