Doomed by the same cruel fate

Star Duo – duo of two characters linked by a common destiny, Star!Chara and Star!Sans. Each of them has experienced a different loss, blamed on Load Glitch.

Their story

Star!Sans, or Star, was originally an ordinary Sans like many. In his universe, he was a captain of the royal guard and dreamed of how, together with his brother, a scientist, they could finally reach the surface. But fate dealt his world differently. Load Glitch, the enslaver of universes, came to their world. At first they tried to destroy him, but all these attempts were ultimately futile. His world was doomed to destruction. When there was almost nothing left to save, the defenders of the multiverse arrived. They, led by Undyne with 7 souls, managed to drive Load out of Sans's homeworld, but by then 90% of the inhabitants had been slaughtered. Sans lost all of his family and friends, his body was damaged and non-fighting. The survivors were evacuated to the Omega Timeline, but it didn't help Sans. From his own helplessness, Sans went on a bender. He wanted only one thing: revenge, but without strength, that goal was impossible to realise. It was then that Sans heard that there was a doctor who had incredible healing technologies. Sans did not have high hopes, but he was willing to try. He went in search of the unknown doctor and when he found him, the doctor agreed to ‘fix’ him, but in return Sans pledged to do the doctor's errands. Sans agreed. His body went through painful changes, but eventually Sans regained his lost bones and also gained a new magic eye. His journey of vengeance began and he set out in search of Load Glitch, driven by pain and regret. But the longer his search lasted, the more his soul healed from his loss. Gradually, his obsession with revenge turned into one of life's goals, which he pursued while remembering to think of other responsibilities as well. But he had to face the past again when he met Star!Chara.

Star!Chara became Star!Sans's partner. In his world he survived by Asriel resetting, but this resulted in Asriel being erased from the history of his world and Chara yearned to bring him back, resetting time every time failure befell him. It took tens of attempts and a timeline where he almost managed to recreate Asriel from scratch until Load Glitch came to his world. Taking over Chara's world was extremely easy for him, as was destroying it. But he didn't have time to kill Chara, for Star arrived to help and was able to repel Load Glitch's attack. The latter retreated, but all of Chara's hopes and dreams crumbled. He lost the chance to get his brother back and he, like Star in the past, became consumed with revenge. It was for this reason that Star took him into his custody. Not only because their goals matched, but because he wanted to help Chara not repeat the same mistakes he had made in the past. Chara doubted him, but accepted the offer.

So they became partners whose goal is to stop the chaos that Load Glitch is causing and get revenge on him.

Their personalities

Star!Sans is very much like the classic Sans, but instead of lazy, he has the fighting spirit of Undyne. If someone needs help, he will help without assessing the consequences of problems. At this point in time, Sans is peaceful and calm, is able to judge his own fights, and is always willing to train someone. During fights, he often likes to joke about his opponents, the only exception being Load Glitch. In earlier periods he was extremely dark, apathetic and fixated on his own revenge. It was only later, when he realised how destructive his own worldview could be to those around him, that his views changed.

Star!Chara is the opposite of Star!Sans. He is detached and thinks only of himself at all times. He does not see his own actions as wrong, thinking that he is acting on the basis that it is the ‘best choice’ he could have made. Contact with alternate Asriels is extremely difficult for him, due to the fact that he cannot accept the real Asriel he had in any of them. He is constantly wrapped up in thoughts of Load Glitch's revenge, which Star!Sans tries to put out of his mind at times, knowing his experience. Star!Chara doesn't consider Star!Sans as an associate, but only uses him for his own gain to get to Load Glitch. He doesn't think about what he will do after he exacts his revenge.

Their abilities

Star!Sans lost Gaster Blasters and blue magic, but a new eye gave him new abilities.

Purple bones

These differ from the usual blue ones in that they produce a powerful explosion when they come in contact with a target or at Sans' will.

Blue bones

Can immobilize an enemy.

Regular bones

Classic bone attacks. Sans's favourite weapon is the bone staff.

Teleportation

Can teleport anywhere within the confines of a single reality/universe.

Royalguard Experience + Strength

His experience is similar to Undyne's experience as captain of the royal guard and the rank of one of the physically strongest monsters, and he actively uses this in every fight he has.

Star!Chara, after merging his soul and his brother, has been given a huge potential of abilities. Load Glitch destroyed Chara's ability to reset, but he still has the rest of his powers.

Chaos Blades

Incredibly sharp blades capable of chopping even steel. Multiple ones can be created at once.

Star Catastrophe

Similar to Star Blazing, but emits red coloured stars.

Shocker Destroyer

Similar to Shocker Breaker, but with the red colour and the fact that the charge from the attack remains on the target for a while and can be reused.

Hyper Hate

Similar to Hyper Goner, but smaller in shape and unstable. Extremely rare to use.

Fallen Angel Form

In this form, Chara's body is covered in black cracks, a large heart appears on her chest, and wings similar to those of Asriel's Angel of Death form grow out of her back.

Additional information

Initially, the characters were part of the Underverse(Fan) project, which closed. Current versions are rebooted for Chaoticverse.

In the Underverse(Fan) they were from the same au.

The star on Sans' face is not painted. It's an integral part of his skull.

Sans's fighting style is partially similar to Bojutsu.

Unlike the usual mergers of monster and human souls in fandom, there is no spirit or mind of Asriel inside Chara. Only his memories.
