wip 1 is my annual Loam experiment piece... sometimes i need to have no plan in order to remember how good it feels to HAVE a plan... but this one is nearly done!!! I THINK. LAST PUSH

aaand wip 2 is a lineup of Knell and the awesome comrades she ghosts for 10k years. with character design i tend to work. backwardsss...? meaning i will over-complicate things at initial conception and then pare them down with each iteration after. Here they are all wearing their awesome posture-support xtreme sportscience base layers before an Excursion

So in my exploring in less of a panicked way in the Underworks, I've located three things of interest.

The first two are in one of the bench rooms, somehow the first time that I was here I was too upset about how the toll for the bench meters to notice the confessional door

Had to spend 25 rosaries for this. Hornet doesn't say anything, because why would she? Doesn't matter though.

More dystopian working information! Work yourself to the bone for this holy place in order for it to operate! Pray you never falter in any mortal way! Feeling guilty, as if you may have committed a sin? Fork over some the pittance of rosaries you've managed to put together in order to speak to the confessional! What do you know, you're right! Not only are you right, you've committed one of the worst sins imaginable! Work yourself for 32 hours straight as penance for this sin! Jiminy Cricket.

Also found this secret space, with one worker maintaining this massive silkfly lantern. To provide artificial lighting in order to make things a little bit less depressive and grueling? To spy, the light making it impossible for them to realize someone is watching on the other side as they take what minuscule break is allotted to them? Idk

Last neat thing I found was another breakable wall section I had missed initially!

And behind it, I found a new critter!

Loam!

He makes me very sad.

I wish Hornet had gone along with what he thought was happening because it seems like he's dead set on working himself to dust trying to get the Citadel's attention, even as she tries to explain to him how that's likely not going to happen anytime soon with the state of things currently.

Usually when I play music for NPC's they receive some amount of joy from it, and initially that seemed to be the case with Loam, too...

But...

To remember being a child, of being at home, possibly of the warmth and love he'd have been surrounded by, and to contrast it with this.... of course he wouldn't want to hear it again.

Then I saw the treadmill beside him that also seemed to be turning gears, so I thought I could lessen his work load and help him out!

Which. Sort of. He did allow himself breathers as opposed to just running continuously, but it doesn't seem to do anything in the long run....

Normally I want to avoid lore spoilers and just kind of figure out on my own how to progress the story, but is there anything I can do to help Loam out?
