i love mumbai locals. you just see so many people there, coexisting, living. there's the tired teacher, gently arguing with a parent in hushed whispers about why there was a complaint about their child. there's the make-up artist, checking up on her brushes before her next stint. there's students, giggling wth friends or sitting quietly after a long day of classes. there's a young lady who knits, colourful yarn spread across her lap without anybody complaining. there are toddlers who are seeing the world for the first time and crying babies that everyone gathers to console. there's a devotee of krishna, dressed in chaniya choli with her beautiful jewelery and face painted, there are no judging glances, everyone compliments her. there's the mother with a job, talking to her child in the time she can squeeze. there's the old woman with gajra and flowers and the man selling earrings. there is so much diversity and so many languages and so many cultures, all together in one place. and no matter how crowded it is and how uncomfortable it gets, there is always, always place for you.
