Why Belford Yards Need Different Pools Than, Say, Arizona
Opening Line: Scrolling pool inspo pics made me realize: Most of them are in deserts. And we are… not that.
The Project or Problem: Belford’s soil is basically sand held together by hope. Add in nor’easters and salt air, and I started wondering if a pool here would just crumble in two years.
The Discovery: The Service Areas page from Cummins Signature Pools (linked here) casually mentioned how they reinforce pools for shore-town conditions. Mind blown. They even account for things like high water tables (which explains why my basement floods every spring).
Ideas or Takeaways:
Material matters: Gunite > vinyl in our climate, apparently.
Drainage is key: No one wants a pool that turns into a pond during storms.
Local builders get it: They know Belford’s quirks, like where the water table rises in August.
Closing: Moral of the story: Geography matters. Maybe I’ll stick to a hot tub.
