22nd November- Site Visit, Lockside Mill After visiting one building I when to the second building in Marple. This building is Lockside Mill on the canal, which is currently being used as office space for multiple companies. Again, I looked at factors such as materials used, fire escape strategies and tried to understand the space. My initial thoughts on the building were that it is a beautiful building which is a lot smaller than the first building on Great Marlborough Street. This building also has natural lighting issues which could be due to the layout and partitions in the space. Overall this building is on a beautiful location and may be suited to a relaxing space, possible a restaurant with the canal-side view. I would also like to revisit the area to have a look around the town and see first-hand what is available as I feel this will be more valuable than just finding the information on the internet.
