The wording of RQ/PD to pearl (specifically about how they will "soon be free") doesn't strike me as intended to be romantic and she just meant that Pearl would no longer be a servant while she would no longer need to keep appearences. which calling her order to pearl to not tell anyone the truth as "her last order" would support. Furthermore, we have been shown that one of Rose's major flaws was her failing ot understand other people's feelings and unintentionally huerting them because of that.

In my experience, people who speak about Egalitarianism (other than maybe purely theoretical) often will talk about, say, that to have a fair race everyone must start at the same time and at the same place, but will be incapable of noticing one of the competitors is driving a goddamn ferrari while everyone else is driving a bike (and some don't even have a bike.)
