Mercutia let out a deep sigh and rested her forehead on the window pane. The cool glass soothed her, and she physically felt her body heat go down a few notches. Sick and feeling absolutely miserable, Mercutia let out a low groan.
“Stop whining.” Loki complained, looking at her from across the room. Perched on their little apartment couch, he looked amused at the situation.
“I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to say that to your ill significant other, you pesky immortal with your perfect immune system.” She snarked back, desperately trying to get the heat in her body down a few degrees.
“You wont let me help, what am I supposed to do?” He replied, finally standing up and walking over to her. Sitting down on the window bench next to her, Mercutia moved in to the cool Jotun air he radiated. He wrapped his arms around her, and she melted into him. If this didn’t work she was going to have to take an ice bath to break the fever. Already her level of consciousness was declining.
“Maybe not do that snarky thing you do.” She said, knowing full well that she was the one snarking him now. “Just hold me, like a good boyfriend should.”
“I’m hardly a boy – and we’re hardly friends.” Loki retorted and Mer rolled her eyes, moving to exit his embrace now. But his arms locked around her and she was trapped. Too tired to move or fight, and really enjoying the cold he was giving her, Mer just let it happen.
“You’re not getting laid for a week or so now.” She told him, a yawn following her words. A laugh rumbled through his chest and Mer felt it on her back.
“I wouldn’t dream of you punishing me any other way.” He said, moving one arm to pull back her hair. Moving it away from the nape of her neck, his fingers trailed over there too, removing any sweat that had pooled there.
Now that she was at a comfortable body temperature, sleep was coming easier. Adjusting just slightly, Mer put her head on his shoulder and bared her neck to him. Awkwardly he bent down and kissed her jugular. Sighing happily, she mumbled something unintelligible, and even she didn’t know what it was.
“I love you too.” Loki replied, tightening his grip on her. Mer quickly drifted off, all too ready to sleep away her illness.
