Lodgetember Day 29: Mr. Jasper Kaylock

Guys...

You don't know how I love this man

When I discovered The Glass Scientist, he was the reason I pinned with the comic in first place.

I adore developed werewolf characters and their story fits perfectly.

And his personality!....Hear me out

He is very kind and insecure, but he is also strategic and objective (so much better than Jekyll at that) and that doesn't mean he can't be an empathetic and active listener. How not to love him?

I love also their relationship with Jekyll as teacher student, so I really need him to do something about Jekyll's struggle… and make him realize he's not a freak like Jekyll did when he said Jasper isn't a monster… (That was one of my favorite panels too :p). That act of gratitude and kindness would be pretty good for everything Henry is going through, I hope Jasper does something, jeez!

PS: He MUST talk with Rachel, at least! (I forgot to upload day 6 here...)

Lodgetember Day 29: Jasper Kaylock!

His Information: Jasper Kaylock! He’s one of the main characters in this comic and one of the main lodgers, he starts out the comic for us and helps Jekyll throughout the chapters, piecing his life together when Jekyll can’t do it himself. Jasper is a Cryptobiologist (meaning he deals with cryptid animals) and a werewolf, bitten by an infected animal when he was out in the woods, and his transformations are.. awkward, to be honest! Turning into an anthropomorphic werewolf every night, but he’s more adored like that. He’s mostly seen with rugged-like clothes, an obvious beat up hat with tan-white colored clothes, with short fluffy, brown hair. He has pale skin with brown eyes, and is our other trans character in the series! Being a FTM transgender. He is the sweetest of the series, I call that!!

happy jasper day all!!! song used was no-one is alone from into the woods

jasper is a super important character to me- he's what brought me to tgs in the first instance and by proxy what made me want to go back and find out what the 5-page webcomic I remembered ended up as. he's the reason I have so many friends in a really great fandom and the reason I can see myself reflected in the story. this song has always reminded me a lot of him and I've always wanted to do something about that- this edit is the first stage towards a full tgs animatic of the song, centred around jasper.

Lodgetembr Day 29: Jasper Kaylock

My last piece for Lodgetembr (before I go to storyboard class, doing some piece for Anne-Marie’s birth on the 3rd, job-hunting, etc…) is the best boy of them, Jasper Kaylock!

In the midst of the whole Frankenstein debacle and the Lodgers turning against Jekyll, I think Jasper would be the Lodger Anne-Marie hangs out with due to the fact she feels safer with him and the fact he studies little creatures. And Anne-Marie loves weird little creatures.

She becomes a bit like his lab assistant, almost. She helps him with feeding time, making sure the creatures are getting well-groomed, and helping out if they get sick. All of Jasper’s creatures love her, maybe too much because they often tend to trap her in a cuddle pile. Jasper freaks out whenever that happens.

Jasper also somehow found himself becoming her guide dog. Don’t ask him how, he’s still confused as to how this happened. He just didn’t want her to be wandering by herself! But when Zosi is not around, Jasper steps into the role of being her guide. He gets bonus points due to being able to read and act as her scribe. Should also mention that Anne-Marie loves to ride him when he’s in werewolf form.
