A Highlight of 2014
'Reasons We Love New Westminster', an event hosted by Alex Jopson (Citytosuburb.ca) of Sutton Group West Coast Realty. The evening started off with guests mingling and being served with some of the best local food and drinks in the city of New Westminster.
As they gathered around to read about new developments in the area, they got to enjoy the entertainment of Bob White of the group The Bobcats. Bob is a very humble musician, who did an astounding solo performance on acoustic guitar, and did a great job at creating the perfect inviting and socializing environment for the event.
Guests also had a chance to learn about some of the local businesses who helped contribute to the event as well, such as, Re-up BBQ, Steel and Oak Brewery, Brick and Mortar, and Lofty Living. It was held at 100 Braid St. Studios, which was previously an old warehouse, but the owner and local artist, Susan Greig, had renovated it to become a great open-concept work space for several artist studios.
I had a great time capturing this event and observing from the sidelines. Everyone in attendance had enthusiasm and curiosity about the presentations put on about the Real Estate Market (By Alex Jopson) and the local new plans for the City of New Westminster (By Barry Waitt from the City of New West). He discussed what future opportunities residents and non-residents will have, as well as, of course, reasons we love this city! The venue was perfect to showcase some of the great qualities of New West, from its heritage, to the creative community and entrepreneurs that make this city more and more unique. New Westminster is a small community that thrives off of the unique locally run shops and business, the type of brick and mortar small businesses that I like to photograph and help.
