Log booms were once a common sight on the waterways of the Pacific Northwest. Logs were moved down rivers in booms, and once at waterside mills along fresh water, or in this case salt water, they were stored for eventual processing into lumber. Now those few log booms which still exist are more linked to recreation.
A Clear Day at Jack Point Park
This morning was beautifully clear and bright, and Jack Point Park gave my friend and I lots of interesting sights to enjoy. At the entrance to the park is a lovely sculpture; Bliss by Dick J. Vandereyk. Just a short walk further on we saw frost-covered driftwood on the beach. Then, for the first time, I saw a Black Oystercatcher!
