As much as I dislike anti-intellectualism, I feel like a lot of folks have hard swung the other way in response, and they basically act according to the idea that "These Authorities, Being Experts In Their Fields, Are Always Correct And Never Flawed". But like. Sometimes you look at what an "expect" has to say and the logic only works if you're on your twelfth shot of This Minority Sucks juice. Sometimes "the experts" are also human beings who are biased, make mistakes, and can even actively choose to be bigoted. Shocking, I know.
the sad truth we're forced to deal with from time to time is that while being a system does help, whether you had any choice in it, it's not and has never been a solution for loneliness.
no matter how deep the connections you form within yourselves, your brain still will need you to interact with people, or you'll find yourselves in especially painful place where nothing helps. you're still collectively a social animal and there's not much there can be done to change this.
it's not that the company of your system doesn't count. you're all just using the same pool of resources and are running out.
if nothing else, it still helps to have someone in the same boat as you. maybe we're both struggling but at least together we'll brave this storm too.
seeing something that immediately prompts a switch really feels like this:
being neurodivergent really has me like i actually do have a sense of humor and i understand when someone is telling a joke, but i think the joke has offputting implications about the person or their beliefs so i have to fight the urge to question that
"i don't delve into the plurality of my characters enough i need to fix that"
[literally made like two desktop toys with the plurality as one of the central themes]
