I’ve been telling more friends that I’ll be detransitioning next year - every single person I have told has taken it exceptionally well. Like, no one has even seemed to need a moment to process it; they’ve just been like “ok, cool - let me know if I can help with anything” or “how are you feeling about it?” etc. Some have asked why - and to be honest, that’s pretty hard to answer. Depending on my level of intimacy with the person, I’ve either just been like “[J] and I want to have a baby in a few years, and what is gender anyway? I sure don’t know haha ok anyway” to “I haven’t been happy living as guy for a while, and I haven’t identified as a man for years. it feels increasingly wrong and I miss being a woman.”
I wasn’t expecting any bad reactions but, still, it’s been a nice thing to get out there in the IRL world.
I am thinking that my T shot on the 4th of Jan will be my last (I take Reandron, which is a 12-weekly injection) - that should give me some time to like train my voice higher, begin electrolysis, and settle into my job without having my hormones be all over the place. I’m obviously not sure how this will play out for me, but I’m treating 2017 as a transition year where I’ll probably still publically move about the world as a dude, but when I start getting social feedback from people that I am getting (I hope) read as a woman, I will complete the social transition - i.e. come out to my co-workers/job, and my family.
