Before the rains came down and washed the last bits of brown and red leaves off the trees, my friends and I ducked into Lois The Pie Queen for lunch, a lot of laughter, and some good, good food. If, for whatever reason, you have not made it in to this old school luncheonette/diner you’ve missed out. Lois the Pie Queen has been serving Oaklanders some of the best pie and biscuits for over six decades. The dishes are straight ahead, well made, and without pretense. This is Old School done right. I tried to order a light meal so I could splurge on a piece of pie or two. My hopes were totally crushed because there were no pie slices to be had! They had sold out, due to it being the Thanksgiving Holiday. A speed rack of pre-ordered pies sat taunting me. The dark and empty pie display case mocked me. But good for them for selling that many pies! TRUST. I will plan better next time. So with no pie in my future, I changed up my order to include grits AND biscuits. A move I did not regret at all. Having people that inspire you, support you and really listen to you is truly a gift. It’s how the Universe opens your soul, dumping in a healthy dose of support and inspiration. That’s what I got today. Even if I had to leave empty (pie) handed. #SWSEats #EatLocal #LoisThePieQueen #Diner #luncheonette #OaklandEats #GoodFriends (at Lois The Pie Queen) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5W7f6qhF2E/?igshid=1pahreo9pvh4z
