A reoccurring theme in the Legend of Korra is the shadow Aang's legacy casts on Tenzin. We witness from the very first episode how Tenzin is struggling to live up to his father's image, and this eventually even culminates in him meeting Aang in the spirit world a season later. Overall, there is a lot of breadcrumbs and insight into their relationship dynamic. However, I wish there would have been time/budget/etc. to discuss Kya ii and Katara. The same way Aang got to raise his airbender son, I think it must have been very healing for Katara to be able to raise her own waterbending daughter in a world (relatively) free from the persecution she witnessed and faced in her early youth. I just know she would have made it a point to offer her daughter (and all of her kids) the love she wished her own mother would have been around to provide. In Kya ii's case, I think this is shown most evidently in the way she is portrayed as being both an exceptional fighter and healer like her mom— a testament to the attention she was shown from a young age.

Growing old with her own mother was a privilege Katara was denied. It must feel like a bittersweet, full circle moment to be able to do so with her own daughter in the South Poll as well. Ko-fi / Art Tag

So, I was watching that scene at the end of season 3 where Suyin removes the metallic poison from Korra's body, and I got to thinking... It was a good thing that she did!

I know this has been the subject of much humor/debate, but now that I think of it, it makes sense. If they intended for some of the poison to stay in her system and for it to be a huge plot point of season 4, it was a good thing that Suyin was the one that took the L.

Can you imagine if Lin "this is all my fault" Beifong found out she was part of the reason that Korra took 3 years to recover from the trauma:

It is so like her character to blame herself that not making a point of addressing it would have been a major plot hole. Meanwhile, Suyin is more likely to be like "well I tried my best/I had good intentions" and move on. Using the excuse of "Suyin was familiar with healing arts" was wise if it meant not getting Lin tied up in the mess. TL;DR - They spared our ol' gal for ONCE, lmaooooo.
