i cant imagine the kind of grief katara experienced after aang died, but what kills me more is that only kya, a nomad herself, understood more than any of her other siblings that her mother was completely alone now that their father was dead. kya, the nomad, who put aside her freedom to explore, and settled down south to look after her grieving mother while her brothers continued their military and governance duties to republic city.

kya, who was most like aang, who understood instantly that katara was not like her and her father, and could not be alone after such a tremendous loss.
