however i've always typed him as infp like me because while we're quite different i feel like we process things similarly

then i realized

i have the same amount of preference for feeling over thinking (25%) as he does for thinking over feeling

Top 5 Marvel characters <3

This is too hard for the opposite reason of the Shakespeare one. More like ALL THESE CHARACTERS ARE MY FAVORITES except Coulson. And I’m only meh on him, which just goes to show how much I love all the other characters.

I tried to pick by listing my favorite characters randomly, without much thought, but I ended up with eight. And I feel like if I cut people I’ll have to justify it to myself, like why did I cut them, why are they not in my top 5, and I’ll have to find something I don’t love about the character and I can’t. Screw it, I’m doing all of them in my top 5. Don’t ask.

6. (whoops) Steve Rogers and Thor - I put them together because I love them for similar reasons. I love them because they are just kind, decent people, who have gone through all sorts of terrible things and somehow manage to keep that sense of goodness. When they smile, the world lights up. More specifically, I love the idea of politically active bisexual Steve Rogers because superheroes save people, and that doesn’t just mean from supervillains, and superheroes are the ones people look up to, and that doesn’t mean just straight people. For Thor, I just love how much he loves humans, that curiosity and appreciation for everything. He could be so high-and-mighty and superior, but he’s head-over-heels in love with Jane Foster and humanity. Absolutely wonderful people.

5. Natasha Romanoff - One of the most important things in life to me is the idea that you can always remake yourself, that you are not made of your past mistakes. I’ve hardly done as terrible things as she has, but that is what she means to me. She’s making friends, joking around, helping people, but she’s struggling. She’s still cold, still acts like a mercenary, is still ruthless. But she’s trying, and that’s what is important. She is awkwardly trying to find her place in the world and that is amazingly compelling and SHE NEEDS HER OWN MOVIE SO BAD

4. Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis - Again, I’m putting them together because I like them for similar reasons. That reason is their realness. Too often, female characters in particular just don’t make sense as real people. They don’t have realistic reactions, they don’t fall in love for reasons that make narrative sense, they don’t have little quirks and personality traits outside of the context of the (male) hero. Jane is a scientist, and instead of it just being a device to get her closer to the hero, it’s a part of her personality. She’s curious about the universe. She falls in love with Thor not just because he’s kind and gorgeous, but because he puts her in touch with a whole new world to explore and learn about. She’s a touch obsessive, and seems distracted and ‘out-of-it’ at times - which is what happens to people when they’re passionate about something. Darcy’s thing is that she is an ordinary mortal. And she is relatable. She’s in over her head, and copes by making sarcastic comments. She’s proud of having Tasered a god because hey, everyone loves those sorts of small victories because they’re not going to be winning the big battles. She appreciates the fanservice, which is what we’d all do in that position. Both of these women are resourceful, intelligent, ordinary humans who are managing to survive in a world of gods and monsters, and that is really cool.

3. Sam Wilson - He is the sane superhero and that is just amazing. All of the rest of the Avengers are messed up, but he has already gone through a major part of a character arc that would have put him through similar pain, but he’s come out of it with the intention of helping other people who are struggling with what he struggled with. I’m also really fond of the headcanon that his job was rescue, that this man with a kind smile and wings would come swooping down from the heavens to help people. That’s what he is - he is a soldier if he needs to be, but he is the person to go to when you need emotional support. He’s funny, because you have to be, when you try to help people emotionally. I JUST REALLY LOVE SAM WILSON AND I WANT A MOVIE ABOUT HIS LIFE AND WHAT BROUGHT HIM TO THIS POINT BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH TO BE TOLD I REALLY NEED A FALCON MOVIE

2. Bruce Banner - He’s a quiet, shy nerd, who at the same time is hyperaware of everything around him (“you rented out my room”). He’s got a dry sense of humor about his condition, and he acts very calm all the time AND THEN IF YOU CROSS HIM HE WILL probably not explode because he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. In fact, he wants to help people. He hates that he has the Hulk in him, but the thing with angry peaceworkers - and this is something I’m trying to learn - is that you can’t let your anger control you, nor can you pretend it doesn’t exist. Let it fuel you, channel it into something constructive, but don’t destroy everyone around you because you are angry. I get what he means by “I’m always angry”. He always has to have an outlet for it. In Calcutta, in order to help he had to be angry at the plight of those people, but in practice, he couldn’t get angry at them because then they wouldn’t want his help. So, being in a stable environment with no excitement wasn’t going to be good for him. Basically, I get him. I understand to a certain extent how he feels and what he’s dealing with and HE NEEDS A HUG AND ALSO A DECENT MOVIE LIKE SERIOUSLY MARK RUFFALO IS AMAZING

1. Loki - What is there to say that hasn’t been said? I think the interesting thing for me is that I fell in love with him while watching Thor. It wasn’t even that far in. He was the smart guy and the quiet one, calm and supportive and almost kind, in contrast to the boorish (at the time) Thor. I root for the underdog, especially when we share a few traits - introverted with a tendency to overthink things, who are deeply affected by emotional strife. I didn’t fall in love with the bad boy, I fell in love with the nerd, and then the tragedy of the nerd turning into the bad boy. He makes me FEEL THINGS and that is NOT OKAY

This got progressively less intelligent, seeing as I’ve been working on it since something like 8pm and it’s now past midnight.

I just realized how many of the people on this list are really outstandingly kind and lovely human beings - and not just that they’re good guys, that one of their dominant traits is being compassionate - and what a contrast that is to my top pick. I guess I’m just trying to counterbalance him.

I spent waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on this, but whatever.

You did know which people to pick to frustrate me the most, didn’t you?

…Although actually, now that I think about it, it’s actually fairly simple.

Get drunk with Geordi, because a) he gets a bit wooden sometimes and it’d be nice to see him loosen up and b) let’s not make androids and Norse gods mentally unstable that just sounds like a bad idea.

Marry Data, because for a long term relationship you want someone who’s sweet and kind and makes you laugh. He’d also be unfailingly loyal and supportive.

And, of course, fuck Loki. Fuck Loki and his perfect cheekbones and piercing eyes and frustratingly tousled hair and long fingers and formfitting leather.
