Loki helm for sale! USD $80
New, unfinished 3D print with detachable two-piece horns. This was made for me by a friend of a friend, and due to my own dumbness in measuring the wrong thing in the wrong place, it’s too big for me and I had to get a smaller one reprinted.
The helm has an inside circumference measurement of 59.5 cm/23.5 inches. It is for a LARGE head. It’s for sale as-is, exactly as you see in the pictures: nothing has been smoothed or finished. I did dip the ends of the horns in glue (as you can see) for protection as they were very wispy and delicate. This will need to be sanded off in the finishing process.
Interested? Have questions? Send me a message. Cost is USD $80 plus shipping (specify where you want it shipped to for an estimate). Can be delivered free of charge to Dragon*Con.

Hi there! So sorry to bother but I just wanted to ask you about the Loki horns? I don't understand what you mean by cutting wedged? I've tried a couple of times with the horns but can only work in small pieces to get it to be precise to the curve of the car board? I'm so sorry and I really hope you can help!
!!! Totally a type-o sorry that is meant to be “Wedges” if you did the cross section skeleton for your horns you would have 90 degree spaces to fill with foam. You could try making a pattern first on some paper, trace the whole horn shape and then cut it down the middle around the curves from tip to base. Use the pattern to cut out the foam, two top pieces and two bottom, but I can not guarantee this method since I just thought it up and have not actually tried it. Sorry, I did not include the details on dealing with insulation foam because there are a ton of tutorials out there on cutting and shaping insulation foam.
There is a large amount of screwing up and trying again that goes into making costumes and props.
I recommended against using expanding foam because it and I are mortal enemies but if you are not feeling the insulation foam feel free to experiment with the expanding stuff you may have a better time then me and there are a lot of cosplayers that swear by it.
Hi there, I'm having a little issue with the Loki horns? How did you manage to make them so perfectly round? I've cut out all the foam and glued it to the cardboard, but I'm afraid I didn't do too much of a good job (as in, there are some gaps here and there rather than a perfect fit). Any advice on how to tackle this? So sorry and thank you
Sorry, if this is a late reply, not sure when you sent this.as long as they are small gaps you can just fill them in with the light weight spackling, (stuff feels like marshmallows) like i did in the tutorials some of the holes in mine where up to a quarter of an inch. If they are bigger then that you might just need to try again, I had to cut all the foam off mine the first try and do it over. Don’t give up! You’ll have so much fun when they are done!
Hi, I followed your loki helm and horns tutorial, which are great! What kind of metal prongs did you buy, if you don't mind me asking? All I have are long screws, which I don't think will stablize the horns very well. Are they ribbed like screws? Where did you get them. Thanks again for your time, any info will be a huge help
Sorry! Not sure when you asked this question if it was today or a long time ago.
They were totally long screws, held on with washers, got them in the bins at Ace.
Hi there! i just wanted to ask how did you manage to make your Loki diadem so... symmetrical? Having a lot of problem with simply tracing it out unto the foam. I really hope you can help @_@
Not sure if this is exactly what I did for Loki, I probably patterned it right on the foam but I ended up wasting a lot of foam. I’ve gotten better at this with practice and I’m making a Sif helm right now. I can show you what I’m doing for that:
Measure your face and head a bunch, figure out how high you want it to sit on your face in relation to where the bottom will sit, and the space between the two side and how thick you want it to be and anything else you can think of. Make a grid with all your measurements and then draw in the helm matching in it to your measurements. I like poster board for this cause then I can cut it out and hold it to my face to see what it will look like before I cut it out of foam and cardboard. (blue tape is because I was using poster board scraps)
When I’m doing this I make a lot of mistakes and I draw right on top of them, if your lines start to get confusing get some color coded pens, or make notes on each line how far from the middle it is. There is no such thing as too many lines.
ALSO remember that nothing is perfect, things like this will always be a little off but the good news is that it is impossible for any human to see all of your face at the same time so it’s unlikely anyone will notice unevenness.
(EDIT) FORGOT TO TELL YOU, I only patterned one half and then I folded it in half and traced it. <- which I realize now is the short answer to the question you where actually asking. Oh well.
