Cold. All he felt was cold. All he ever felt was cold. Frost at the tips of his fingertips, a reminder of his past, of his power, of his fears. He turned to the side and saw Y/n laying next to him, her body pale. Too pale.
"Y/n!" he shouted, sitting up and taking her in his arms.
Quickly she began to turn blue, frost crawling up her arms. He tried to let go of her, but her body was frozen to his. He cradled her close, holding her as tight as she could. He felt something crack and as he looked down, her body shattered in his arms.

"Y/n!"
Y/n jolted awake to the sound of Loki's screams. She opened her eyes to see him writhing in bed.
"Loki," she reached out and ran her fingers through his hair. "Loki, wake up, love. It's alright."
He thrashed and cried out. She kept gently running her fingers through his hair, not wanting to startle him awake. He eventually began to stir, his eyes opening slowly.
"I'm here, Loki. You're here," she reassured him.
He leaned into her touch wrapping his arms around her waist. She sat there quietly, letting him take his time, knowing it was hard for him to open up. Often he just needed her there, needed a reminder that she was real, that this was real. After a little while he finally spoke up.
"Are you frightened of me?" he asked.
She tilted her head. "No, not a bit, love. Why would you ask?"
"I..."
She tilted his head up, holding it in her hands. She pressed a kiss to his forehead. "You do not scare me, my love, for I know that you would never hurt me. I know you and I love all of you."
He looked into her eyes, searching for a hint of a lie. She held his haze, not backing down. Finding no lie, he settled back into her safe hold, seeking comfort from the one place he had left. She adjusted so she was laying down with his head on her chest and held him until his breaths evened out, watching him as he fell back to peaceful slumber. He always looked so beautiful when he slept, his forehead smoothed out as his worries faded away, a soft smile graced his lips, he looked like a young Asgardian prince and she wanted nothing more than to protect him from a cruel world who didn't understand the complexities of life.
