Getting into the loki parts of the marvel fandom through owen wilson hornyposting blogs and I'm seeing stuff about how the writers "actually meant for sylive/loki to be weird and controversial and it's all just one long con and they're not endgame" and. More power to y'all honestly but I'm getting war flashbacks. I'm not ready for tlsc (the lokius conspiracy)

i think a lot of us are tjlc survivors and we've learnt our lesson the hard way lmao

personally i'm never gonna do it again, i love being invested in the ship and in the fandom and i love the headcanons and the theories, but just for fun, i'm not gonna take them seriously or expect them to become canon

idk who's saying that, i agree that s*lki might not (and hopefully will not) be endgame, but that doesn't mean that it was written to be weird. or rather, if it was written to be weird and controversial they did a shit job, because aside from that one little jealous tirade from mobius it was never treated as such. even mobius starts acting like it's normal in that same episode. it feels weird because it is weird, but it's not written as weird.

and most of all, s*lki not being endgame doesn't mean lokius is. it would be great writing, but we know far too well that between good writing and heteronormative writing, chances are they're gonna pick the latter.

im gonna be ill people keep saying that the lokius situation is our own fault for seeing something that isnt there and that were queerbaiting ourselves but some of these parallels and interactions HAVE to be intentional right?? Love is a dagger?? Im going insane

the thing is, does it really matter?

option 1, it was intentional queerbaiting. some things were intentional from them, other we "made up" ourselves, which is what generally happens with queerbaiting. they won't make it canon because it's Disney, they'll just keep baiting us a bit and then send mobius back to his wife or something like that.

option 2, they weren't intentional, they just accidentally wrote a beautiful dynamic and accidentally made some beautiful symbolisms, but they never planned on it, and they never planned on making it canon so they won't.

option 3, they weren't intentional but seeing the reaction they might change plans, if not for a canon relationship at least for some good old queerbaiting in season 2.

option 4, it was intentional and it wasn't queerbaiting, and we're gonna get canon lokius in season 2.

which one do I believe? I have no idea and honestly I don't really care. personally, as much as I love them and I love the fandom part of this, I don't intend on trusting the show when it comes to this. thing is, I was one of those people really really into bbc sherlock. and the theories for that show were impeccable. there was no way that this is not true right? and I believed that, and I trusted that, and then the final season aired and it was such a disappointment and it hurt me so much that to this day, 4 years later, I have Sherlock blacklisted here. that shitshow made me way too cynical about queer representation in TV (and if BBC did not deliver, how can I expect Disney to do it?) to have the emotional strength to believe our own theories. I love them, I love making them, and I love seeing that they make sense but that's where I stop.

but going back to the point, does it matter? wether they're queerbaiting us or were queerbaiting ourselves or nobody is queerbaiting anyone... there is no way to tell, they all look the same until you see how it ends.

my advice would be to just enjoy the ride. enjoy the theories for what they are. if we get canon lokius even better, if not we can burn marvel hq to the ground still have our little bubble of headcanons, fanfictions, fanart etc. but should you take the advice of an old, bitter, cynical bitch? idk dude

Without realising that's ,, fanfiction?? That's people creating content in their specific corner. You don't actually have to,, interact with it.

Even if you morally object to fandom self/incest it's still made by mostly queer people looking for a bit of fun and a few tags blocked and it's gone, you never have to look at it. It's optional and mostly ignorable. But sy/ki is canon, it's inescapable because it's part of the show you have to watch.

And bad representation in a huge show for the average cishet audience that says self/incest (not a real relationship and an illegal one) is better to show before and instead of a m/m w/w relationship, is a bad thing. I have nothing wrong with selfcest I read a bunch of fanfic of it, but I don't want that to be the first fucking Disney queer relationship I watch in a show. That's not lgbt rep that's an insult.

Fandom can do weird shit, corporate conglomerates who only see the queer community as something to be milked and feed those ideals to the mainstream, don't get to do that.

absolutely agree!! i have nothing against people who ship s*lki per se. i don't want to see it because it weirds me out but i have it blacklisted and it ends there. a ship, as long as it's just a fandom thing, has no impact on the outside. but when it becomes a canon relationship it does have an impact, and with such a big mainstream series it's a huge impact. and with the way they handled it, it's a negative impact.

which is why i only have issues with the few (i have no idea if they're a few or the majority but i'll assume it's just a few) s*lki shippers that 1) don't recognize the negative impact that canon s*lki has on the community when it comes to representation or 2) gloat about s*lki being canon instead of lokius as if straights-winning-gays-losing was an achievement and not what happens every fucking day

also, about him being shipped with himself, i would much rather have that than him being with sylvie. making her a woman, with blond hair, changing her name... they're doing their best to make her seem like a completely different person (*cough* incest *cough*) and to make them look straight. you wanna go selfcest? go big or go home. tom hiddleston on tom hiddleston action, loki x president loki let's go

it might be lol but i wouldn't say they're really that different personality-wise! like, on a very surface level sure, posh polite british man vs chaotic cowboy, but i feel like at their core they're much more similar than they let on!

i know i always go back to mbti but that's by far the easiest way for me to understand people, because it helps identify certain patterns in how people's minds work, so i'm sorry if it doesn't make a lot of sense to people that don't know about it!

anyway, tom is an infp and owen is an enfp, which means that they have the same cognitive functions in their stack, just in a slightly different order (tom Fi-Ne-Si-Te, owen Ne-Fi-Te-Si) and basically that means that the way they perceive the world and they way they process what they perceived is pretty similar

i'll try to avoid writing an essay about it lmao so it's a big oversemplification, but for example that means they tend to take in information from the outside in a big-picture kind of way, seeing patterns, brainstorming (Ne) and they tend to make decisions based on their personal values and be very sensitive (Fi).

of course there a lot more to a person than these kind of patterns, but in my experience they play a huge role in how easily two people can get along and understand each other despite possibly having completely different backgrounds

and especially when those backgrounds cause you to be put in a very distinctive box (eg posh polite british man, chaotic cowboy) it can be particularly pleasant and helpful to find someone that sees you and understands you despite being completely different in certain ways, it heps remind you that there's much more to you than what can fit in the box. which is why i am obsessed with the hamlet thing, that shit keeps me up at night <3

i agree with a lot of what you're saying about sylki but i think that in the case of a lot of narcissists (including the one's i've known personally lol) they struggle between swingling wildly between intense narcissism and crippling self hatred, where it IS inconsistent and difficult to tell where they're at at certain times. i hate s*lki as a ship but i don't entirely think it's out of character as a brief infatuation thing, where he sees this version of himself who is way more powerful than he realized he could ever be and thinks he's in love. really imo it's just how they deal with it moving forward, because i do think it would be a good story if they have him learn to love himself in a way that's not narcissistic first, then come to the realization that he can be loved by someone who's not an alt version of himself (mobius <3).

sorry this was long but. basically i think it's not entirely out of character for him but at the same time it IS out of character if they try to establish a long term relationship between loki and sylvie rather than just what we have so far. on the other hand, if the s*lki stuff ends here and loki has room to grow and fall in love with mobius then it's perfect and they're geniuses but We Will See

the reason i say he's not a narcissist is not the self hatred, it's that he clearly cares for other people. even with the high and thick walls he's built around himself, it still shows. it showed ever since the first thor movie, and through all of the other movies (except the avengers) and even more so in the series.

i do agree that a crush on her could be in character, though! but more in the "road to self love" kind of way than in a narcisistic kind of way. seeing in her someone similar to himself (*cough* a bit too similar *cough*), seeing the potential for what he could be, and even seeing things he already is but struggles to see in himself. there are several reasons why it could work as a plot device, and as i said in the other ask, even if it's gross, they could have used it

the issue is the way they used it. without any buildup of the relationship taht would actually justify it, openly saying through mobius that it's wrong but then backtracking and acting like it's just your average romantic subplot, insisting on the "we're the same person" constantly especially in ep 5 but then acting like it's something completely normal. and even worse what they did irl constantly justifying it.

as i said, if they had gone all in and kept the same energy that mobius had at first it could have been a mindfuckingly dramatic way to get loki to self love, and it wouldn't necessarily have been out of character. of course disney wouldn't do something that extreme, but if you don't have the balls to do it properly don't do it at all. or i guess do what you want but we'll call you out on it lmao

but yeah tbh in my opinion no matter how they deal with it in season 2 it was dealt with terribly so far, and in a way that i don't think can be fixed. even if it ends here, at most we can pretend it never happened... which is what personally i'm already doing lmao

also the only way i will forgive them for making me see 🤮 the 🤮 kiss 🤮 is a proper makeout session between loki and mobius

Hello, just want to clear up confusion around one line Mobius says. When he says "you're my favorite" over Loki's shoulders, is he saying it to him or Sylvie? 🤔

but what really messes me up is that technically loki shouldn't be able to tell, he can't see mobius looking at sylvie! it's clearly just a mistake (like the fact that he somehow could read "variant" on the back of his jacket in ep2) but i fully embrace the headcanon that loki thinks mobius was talking to him. because if there's one thing i love is using creators' mistakes against them to make everything as gay as possible.
