If you’re as glued to television series The Walking Dead as much as I am, you’re probably all caught up on last weekend’s mid-season finale, and you’re probably anguishing over what happened, too. But I’m not going to spoil the surprise. In a somewhat related note, turns out one of the actors from the show has some hidden musical talent, and he’s just released his first single. That person is Chandler Riggs, the 18 year old actor who plays Carl on the show. He makes his production debut as Eclipse with a transcendental future bass styled opus named ‘hold on’, featuring mahogany voiced Los Angeless songstress Lolaby on halcyon vocals. “Hold on” we gladly do as Eclipse takes us on a tranquil, cosmic journey with his lush levitating synths and exquisitely ethereal soundscape. The chill meditative, symphonic rich electronic aria is a spiritually enriching experience. The beautifully constructed, sublimely presented song is a free download, here.

Ever enigmatic k?d is one of my favorite young producers. I mean, seriously, have you even listened to the Daft Punk remix k?d put out a few weeks ago? No? You’d better get on it, here. As such, it was a pleasant surprise when k?d suddenly revealed a debut original, and even more of an unexpected delight is the fact that Somewhere Far Away From Here features fleecy luxurious, whispering soft vocals by golden voiced Los Angeles songbird Lolaby. The cosmic expanse and cinematic gallantry of k?d’s Somewhere Far Away From Here evokes the likes of Illenium and Adventure Club, but doused in the ethereal wonderment of Porter Robinson. Somewhere Far Away From Here is an epic opus with profound depth. Lolaby’s gentle murmuring is soothing and disarming. The hushed message she delivers could be coming from an intimate part of our own subconscious, a representation of our psyche itself. In the meantime in contrast to that familiar intimacy is k?d’s sweeping production. There are no limits to its big blue sky, or its deep watery chasms, or its massive craggy peaks, or its sweeping magnificent tundras. No, there is only beautiful absolution and the tingles of sonic euphoria, reverberating like little shocks of electricity. k?d’s magnificent debut original is a free download, here.

The year’s winding down, Christmas is just around the corner, and everyone’s taking off to spend time with their loved ones. What better way to soundtrack these memorable winter moments than with some fantastic Christmas song covers? Satin voiced Los Angeles chanteuse, Lolaby, offers up a sublimely heart warming cover of Jason Mraz’s rendition of  Winter Wonderland. This Winter Wonderland is blanketed in richly resplendent snow, all fluffed up and fleecy. It’s a cozy jazz twist that Lolaby gives us on her Winter Wonderland, one that has me smiling in relaxed bliss and wishing it could be Christmas all the time, despite my usual preference for warm summer months. I don’t watch Rick and Morty, which some people might consider criminal, but I do know that I’m in love with a song from the show named Goodbye Moonmen, thanks to a cover by Los Angeles songbird Lolaby. We’ve heard some spine tingling good collaborations from Lolaby this year, from her recent satin future bass partnership with Kidswaste to her many profoundly serene songs with Cosmic Quest. Lolaby delivers more of her signature velveteen elegance and breathtaking cloudy puffs of soft, enveloping warmth on an alt soul meets future bass interpretation of the Rick and Morty song. In fact, when I checked out the original, I easily came to the conclusion that I’m much more fond of Lolaby’s dreamy, wispy version, which was produced by NYC’s Vesper. The artwork for the track is absolutely adorable, too. A cartoon Lolaby, hovering in a cosmically beautiful sky... nothing seems more fitting.
