CROC Month: The Future

Thank you so much for hosting this month, @cullenromancersocmonth!

Between DAI and Trespasser, I HC that the two travel a fair amount together to further off rifts. Without the looming threat of Corypheus and his army, Cullen actually delegates and Yvette drags him on adventures. She shares her love of cliff jumping with him (he isn't sold) and they spend time exploring southern Thedas and the Marches.

After Trespasser it continues once she's well enough to travel again. They pack lightly and do things on their own for a year or so, just the two of them, Captain, and their horses. It helps her come to terms with the loss of her arm and her new limitations by keeping her grounded doing something she enjoys, and out of the public eye. Cullen braids her hair for her, which is excellent practice for the future.

Eventually they settle down near Denerim. They get a very good deal on a large plot of land and bring Cullen's family from South Reach to farm part of it. Separated by a pond and a pasture, Cullen and Yvette build their own house with a garden, barn, and a few outbuildings. They celebrate having a home by adopting another mabari, Lieutenant. A grove of trees separates their house from the clinic, which expands over time.

They do, however, keep the mansion that Varric gifted her with the title he gave her in Kirkwall. The top floor serves as a makeshift headquarters for the bare bones operations they run, along with a bedroom for Yvette and Cullen when they're present. The main floor is entirely for Sera and her wife and any of their friends who happen to be around. And the basement? That's Dagna's. Yvette always funds her experiments.

Cullen and Yvette have a deal that all Inquisition-related work is routed to the Kirkwall mansion. Once a year they go for a month and deal with what needs doing - if there's something urgent, people know how to find them - and then they return to their quiet life. In exchange for all the help Elona and the Crown give them, they do occasionally attend galas, but never more than 2 a year.

Elona's eldest children spend summers with Yvette and Cullen from time to time, training and learning.

When they break ground on the clinic, Yvette announces she's pregnant. Rosalie helps in the clinic while she's out of commission, and Mia is an excellent extra hand around the house. Which is good, because they have twin girls to start. A couple years later they have a boy, and possibly one more girl after Veilguard.

After having children, Cullen stays with the animals, clinic and kids while Yvette makes the trek to Kirkwall for her annual business trip. He also uses the children as an excuse to get out of galas. Yvette is glad to keep their kids away from the public eye, especially before Veilguard.

A lot is still TBD about the kids.
