she looked at the sky, and her heart rejoiced, like how it always does whenever she sees the night sky filled with bright twinkling stars.
oh, how i wish i was just a star, she thought. i can be bright, and someone out there would find me magical. i can be dim, and someone out there would feel related to me. i can be twinkling, and someone out there would find me funny. i can just be up there, not doing anything, and someone would find me beautiful. i can just stay still, and it would take billions of years before i lose my light. i can just be myself, and nothing would seem fearsome.
unlike humans.
she finds it hard to be human. humans can be bright, but someone out there would outshine them, making it seem like the others are nonexistent. humans can be dim, but the world around you shall be unjust. humans cannot twinkle. they must act according to society's standards. humans cannot be stagnant, for they will be viewed as frivolous, insignificant beings that will be constantly stepped upon during the little days of its existence. to be human is hard, she thought, because you have to be scared of everything.
but that's what makes humans special.
humans can be bright, so they can make someone brighter. humans can be dim, so they would learn to empathize with its surroundings. humans must twinkle to break the norm and unleash the beauty of each and every being's diversity. humans can be stagnant, to nurture the place they've planted their roots in during the little days of its existence. to be human is hard, yet exciting, she thought. i am scared of everything, especially of what the future holds for me.
