Aesthetics and Intelligence

What is the true perception of intelligence, and why is it so degrading to women in which aesthetics are involved-- that the first correlated judgement of a "pretty" female is not perceived to be intelligence, but however it is correlated with a sexual connotation. Hobbes argued that intelligence and wit can be divided by two types: 1) natural wit, which is exhibited by ordering thought and cognitive logical processes towards a particular end; and 2) acquired wit, which individuals get through instruction and method. In modern terms, street smart and book-smart. I am not a feminist, nor am I anti-feminist-- for I only have opinions about the perception of women based on looks because I am of the female gender, and this has always been on my mind. What makes a woman smart and beautiful? Is it determined by succeeding in either terms of motherhood or career? Or can we truly have both. Why is it frowned upon and labeled as "selfish" for a woman to want more than creating a family, why can't she have both? Is it because of the biological standards encoded by evolution? Or is it because of the gender-roles our society is built upon? There are so many factors which cloud my decision of desire, the desire for knowledge through pursuing acquired wit of science and philosophy-- and the natural wit of becoming a mother and a partner. Why can't women have both? Why can't I have both? I've decided on this path, in which I would have both. A career in medicine and a family-- I hope I'll succeed in terms of equilibrium.
