Dear Benedict Cumberbatch, You've spoken for the equality and well treatment of humans before. An eloquent and powerful voice is needed currently in the UK. You're probably busy with real men duties but the situation has no resolution in sight. The Tories' rule will affect millions of people.
I don't live in the UK, I have never been to the UK and I have no relations in the UK. But the status of the government with Tories and David Cameron in power affects us all. The fact that there is so much disregard for human life, it sickens me. Don't scrap the Human Rights Act, add to it. Don't scrap free healthcare, people (veterans, single parent families, disabled individuals, minorities...) depend on it to survive. Don't cut back on spending when you allow the rich to get richer; are the businesses keeping the government on a leash? (Probably.) Don't suppress the freedom of expression and censor the media. (My friend said, "censoring Twitter? Are they North Korea?) David Cameron burned £50 in front of a homeless, possibly dying, man. For a club. For fun? I'm not even surprised anymore. You don't want to live in that environment, under that kind of rule. You don't raise children in that kind of degenerative environment. Nothing grows. I do not know much about politics or government. But take an opportunity to learn, because I'm afraid that this bullshit will be the end of all of us. Vote when it comes time to vote. Encourage others to participate in decision making. Do something.
I do not in any way condone graffiti on war memorials, but it'll be a much easier job to clean that up than fix the shattered lives left by this government. Last week we got word that Leicester Royal Infirmary have taken full responsibility for my best friend Lee's death in their care, back in November of 2012. While he was in their care, he barely slept, in large part because he was up late calling out on behalf of confused and distressed older patients who were unable to summon a nurse themselves because the buzzer system was broken. It was glaringly obvious that the place was woefully underfunded and understaffed. I was still shocked when he died, but I shouldn't have been. I don't blame the staff at all, but the Government undermined them with zero thought to the ordinary people who would fall through the cracks. Our public services have taken a kicking in recent years. They're underfunded, understaffed, and schools and health services are being sold off in chunks under the guise of 'academies' and 'public-private partnerships'. Don't anyone dare talk to me about this stuff like it's a difference of opinion, or an abstraction. Real people are suffering, real people are hurting, and real people are dead.
Apparently people are mad out on Downing Street in London right now. I agree that the UK should have a proportional voting system, but the Tories would still have won. Though they wouldn’t have gotten a majority, so coalition would’ve probably been formed. Coalition governments are really common in a proportional voting system, just FYI.
