Dancing as a metaphor for social interactions

sometimes I feel like society and social interaction are like one big dance. You start off with simple steps where messing up doesn’t do much and you can come in anytime. Then as you progress the dances get more specialised. 

Sometimes, you feel like at some point you missed a step or tried to cut into another dance and now you’re constantly out of step with everyone else you interact with. Like no matter what you do you’re always scrambling to catch up and match your steps to everyone else. Only you can’t because you missed part of the dance and don’t know where your place is anymore. So you bounce between people and even with close friends and family you can’t understand what the steps are and its hard and tiring and sometimes you just want to sit to the side and not dance but that’s even worse. And so you stop for a bit, to catch you breath, but everyone keeps going so when you try again your even more lost. So your stuck, out of step. 

This sounds really dramatic but that’s something on loneliness and social anxiety/ not being good at this friendship/ people thing.
