Long after she headed over towards the seashore,
I forgotten if she had existed at all. Her shawl
flapped as if she wanted to surrender to
the rising waves crashing against her feet,
wearing out her toes more than the rock
which her sister was chained onto,
many years ago.
No krakens exist, just fragments of dust
and powdered sugar from just desserts...
Just desserts, in a desert of salt.
The breeze picks up, but never strong enough
to make a storm out of a beautiful day,
with iridescent sunbeams
and incandescent heat.
She goes away with the sea lapping up her toes,
and a few wet marks on the coastline.
Alone, the waves pick up, closer to me,
though distance is my eternal friend.
