I think the moment I started liking Berlín was also when he kicked Tokio out. Before that, he was growing on me, but that was the decisive moment lol. Like at the very begining, the first 2 episodes maybe? I really liked him, he even seemed sweet, creepy, but sweet lol. But then he gave that speech about his wives and I was like “oh he’s one of those characters”... But I kinda still liked him in a way? He was very interesting and I alway like the assholes, but I was keeping my distance. The he kicked Tokio and I was like “ok yes, have my heart, I love you!”.
I also hate Tokio... And I totally get your “guilt” about it, cause same dkfjhdfg Like she’s an interesting character, don’t get me wrong, and it’s not like she’s the only flawed one, I literally just said I love the asshole characters... Between Berlín and Palermo... lol And I’m always feeling guilty about not liking enough female characters, but it’s not like I do it on purpose sjkfhg (that said I looooove my beautiful Nairobi with my entire heart! <3). The thing I think happens to me with Tokio is that she fucks up A LOT and doesn’t accept that, if that makes sense. Like Berlín and Palermo know when they’re being a nuisance to the rest of the gang, they know when they’re saying incredibly rude things, or when they’re puting people in danger, they still do it cause it has a purpose and succeeds in that purpose, (which arguably could be worse than just being stupid and not knowing lol). But Tokio, she fucks up, she tries to do stuff and fails, and she never stops. She doesn’t think about the consequences of her plans failing, while characters like Berlín, Palermo and even the Profe, they weigh the consequences, sometimes they don’t care about them, but they are ready for them. You know? Did I make any sense at all? ksfjhksfg
I loooove the little group that are Berlín, Palermo and the Pofe, they’re objectively the smartest, cause they have planned everything. But also, I just really love how complicated they are as characters? I love the Profe a LOT, he was the first character I took in as my fave, and I relate to him quite a bit (mostly because of my own headcanons about him but still lol) but I certainly love Berlín and Palermo more, and that has almost everything to do with Raquel. Like this might be my asexuality and possible aromanticism talking, but I just didn’t get their relationship in seasons 1 and 2. The whole thing were literally 5 days. I just can’t get it inside my head that you can fall in love so deeply in 5 days, to the point that the Profe almost ruins the whole entire plan for Raquel, and then Raquel gave up her entire life, work, ideology and the life of her very ill mother and little child, for a man she saw 5 days, what? let’s say 5 hours a day, and that’s rounding up, so like 25 hours. A whole day and one hour in a WHOLE YEAR! A man she saw for one day and one hour and she moved to the other side of the world, to live on the run, sacrificing her career (granted, he was loaded, neither of them had to work a day in their lives lol), she put her small child in danger for this man, she took her Alzheimer riddled mother, who was getting lost in her own house, who had to stick post-it notes saying things like “you have a grandaughter”, and she took her to a place where she didn’t understand the language, with a man she saw once or twice, had to explain to her that now the police were looking for them... I don’t know, I don’t think Raquel is really smart... And not to mention all that the Profe risked for a woman he saw for one day and one hour.
I have a lot of not so great feelings for Raquel lol You know those scenes in season 3 and 4 where Sergio shouts at Raquel in the van? Saying things like “I didn’t ask you to come” and what not? Well, I feel like they wrote that to make the viewers feel bad about her, and I kinda did cause she came from a history of abuse and all... But I mean, Sergio was right... fdkjghkfdg
Because most of the Profe’s scenes are with Raquel, I don’t enjoy them so much. But as a character? the Profe is awesome! That’s why I love the flashbacks with Berlín and Palermo the most :’) In those, you can see his true, undistracted self dkfhfdg
