This is the spot where I really fell in love with Paris. Sitting on the banks of the Île de la Cité watching the sunset cast it’s fading light on Notre Dame, drinking a beer, and meditating on life, Paris began to reveal itself to me. It was a perfect moment. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to visit Paris several more times and make a number of friends there. Each time I visit, I try to take a moment to take in my favorite view in my favorite city. It’s sad to think that this view no longer exists. I’m heartbroken for my friends and the people of France. At the same time, I’m reminded that things constantly change. There have been fires before in Notre Dame’s 850 year history. It has been damaged before. Yet it still stands.
