Longshot and jet friendship headcanons?

Even though he is aware of Jet's flaws, Longshot respects/admires him and loves him like a brother. Jet loves and trusts Longshot and wants to do right by him.

One reason Longshot felt comfortable with Jet from the very beginning was because Jet never pushed him to speak when he didn't want to

When Longshot first joined the group, Jet tried to "teach" him a variety of weapons to find his perfect match. When they figured out that the bow & arrows were meant for him, Jet cheered loudest of everyone!

Jet can read Longshot's facial expressions extremely well (even though he doesn't always listen)

Jet always laughs at Longshot's "jokes"...even when Longshot wasn't joking

Longshot has surreptitiously kept Jet from walking off a tree branch and falling to his death about a hundred times; Jet has never noticed this and probably will never notice this

as promised here’s some random hcs for longshot in no particular order

longshot is so trans 

he’s non binary and uses he/they pronouns

his little hat is his ender euphoria accessory but so is the little red shoulder cape

he and smellerbee found each other first, then the pair came across jet who was alone. he and smellerbee were a duo for like two years before jet and the other freedom fighters came in

as much as jet acts like he’s the leader/father of the group, smellerbee and longshot are much more like parental figures, see their behavior when jet was in ba sing se

smellerbee was already out when they met. meeting her was such an important event in the process of discovering and coming out, she helped them pick out their name and showed them that you really can just be out and trans without any reservations

as much as longshot loves the freedom fighters, in his heart he loves smellerbee the most. they’ve been through the most shit together and they’ve been there for each other during the hardest parts of their lives. he would do anything for her and they trust that she would do the same for them. 

of course, they still love the freedom fighters very much. besides pipsqueak, longshot is the duke’s best friend

longshot is a good cook! jet has great taste in food but burns everything, the duke always overseasons, smellerbee is okay actually, pipsqueak makes fantastic eggs but can’t make anything else. so the job usually fell to longshot, because they can make more than a few dishes and everyone complained the least when he made things. with that, he has a lot of practice, and used that time to get inventive with the few spices and herbs they could find. 

longshot is HoH, which they and toph bond over

they end up becoming really good friends! when toph and smellerbee start dating he ends up spending a lot more time with her, and they bond even more over being non binary and disabled. and longshot appreciates having someone new to lovingly bully smellerbee with <3

the joke about longshots name is that hes CRAZY good at shooting from a distance but one time there was a squirrel literally two feet away from him and he missed by a yard and smellerbee never let him forget it
