one of my favorite details in The "Apartment" Complex (that you all can look for if ya'll ever wanna re-read) is Liam Lawsons Gun* .
each member of the grid gets their own handgun, their initials are ingrained in it and in the bullets it uses with Grid Official detailing. It's kind of like an initiation, a final step before fully joining the grid. its very special, and altogether a very nice gun.
chp 5 Liam loses his gun, he cant seem to remember where he put it so in exchange for help finding it he assisted Charles with helping lando and Oscar pack for their stakeout.
he and charles give up on finding Liam's gun. figuring it'll turn up eventually.
it does, unfortunately it shows up when Isack is the one looking.
finding liam's gun is what triggers the rookies to stop fighting with one another, makeup, and it sets the whole "holy hell we're living with a bunch of criminals" plot in motion.
the next chapter (I think) Jack and Isack are alone in Gabi and Jacks apartment, Isack hiding the gun in one of the drawers, with jacks assistance. so when Jack is leaving the apartment after Gabi finds out he's a DOOHAN Doohan, he takes the gun with him.
then under the influence of mind control, he shoots Isack using the gun. Franco piecing together that it is from the Monaco grid because of the LL initials on the bullets used. gabi took the gun from Jack when he was saving Isack, so its with the rookies now.
then, when Ollie and franco are out getting supplies for Isack. Ollie takes the gun with him for defense, keeping it in the car even as they're rescued from the Doohan ambush.
a car that Isack wakes up in, him taking the gun when they're running from doohan and the police and then keeps with him as he's healing in the grid medbay (this gun is what the "massive gun in my pants" chapter title is referring too)
isack then takes the gun and keeps it with him during all three parts of the Monaco must fall finale, and when Jack tries to swipe it from him (to of course kill his dad and then himself with) Isack says NOPE and shoots Jack before running off to shoot Doohan instead.
he succeeds of course, yay!
i just like that the one gun was hot potatoed from rookie to rookie, being one of the inciting incidents for the plot as well as one of the resolutions. chekovs (Lawsons) gun, if you will
go Liam Lawsons, saving the day completely unintentionally
