“Look Behind” - an immersive piece
As I’ve mentioned before on this blog, I’m a young theatre maker and aspiring writer/director/choreographer of immersive theatre. I’m heavily inspired by the work of punchdrunk, hence this being a SNM blog, but I also take a lot of inspiration from literature and history.
“Look Behind” is the title I’ve given to a piece I have recently started planning, based off the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. It would take place, ideally, over 2-3 large floors of a building, with multiple spaces transformed to recreate homes, forests and even the underworld. Although it’ll probably be many years before I get the funding and acclaim to produce this piece (as I am only 18 at the time of making this post), I thought I’d share some of my planning with you on this blog in the hopes that my fellow immersive enthusiasts would give me feedback, advice, or simply find it something interesting to hear about occasionally.
I’ll tag all posts about this show as #LookBehind so if you ever want to look though them they should all be gathered together.
With that waffling over, here’s a couple of pages from my planning notebook, including the costume and set design of the character Dionysus.
Anyways I hope you guys find this interesting, please feel free to message me if you have any suggestions/questions or just wanna chat
