The Sunrise I Haven't Seen Yet
I don't know what to say anymore
The words are almost there,
reaching for a place to live,
but they're lost somewhere inside me,
looking for a way out.
The chain dangles from the sky.
I reach for it,
trying to turn the light on.
But the moon dares to bare its face,
hiding the warmth I crave,
leaving me with stars
of lost illumination,
dreams that were once alive,
and hopes to live for.
Maybe wishes aren't granted
because they died long ago,
and I'm left holding on
to tomorrow,
carrying a sunrise
I haven't seen yet.
