I decided to work on the front cloth beam this morning as well. I realized this entire cloth apron needed replacement, and spent a while pulling out all the nails, staples, and a wooden strip as well as the fabric. This morning I took all of the old, dirty, tangled warp off the Reed #cambridgeloom. I was hoping to save some of it but that proved not to be likely. Iused the last of my Texsolv cord to attach a warp rod to the back beam. I’ll need to order more to use for treadle tie-ups. As I suspected, the back beam used to have pegs for sectional warping, but they are all broken off. It will be easy enough to use this with a standard warp rod however. Road trip! We took a drive today to the home of #macomberlooms in York, Maine! First photo is the building; next 2 are the office area & stairway, then inside the workshop. Last pic are the parts I brought home to refurbish the 24” Macomber. Eddie was quite personable, and answered lots of questions for me. And so it begins. This is the X-frame loom, moved into the studio. I saw one crack that will need to be glued and clamped - nothing major. Other than that it will be cleaned, tightened, amd I’ll be replacing harness cords and treadle tie-ups.
