And so it begins. This is the X-frame loom, moved into the studio. I saw one crack that will need to be glued and clamped - nothing major. Other than that it will be cleaned, tightened, amd I’ll be replacing harness cords and treadle tie-ups. This followed me home today. It is a Cambridge 4 harness 6 treadle counterbalance loom, made in the 1960s. The last pic is how it should look. It needs a little TLC and some cleaning, but won’t be reassembled until my loom room over the garage is ready. Original price was $65! I got it for free and feel blessed. In the attic, high above our vintage lace looms, lace pattern punch cards in action. They pull the jacquard pattern ties attached to the loom as they rotate creating our intricate lace designs – a very early version of a computer!
