Self harm research
Before deciding on weather to add a trigger warning or not to my animation I did some research primarily on the internet trying to find forums where people who harm themselves have conversations. I managed to find a really good subreddit for people who self-harm where it discusses a range of situations and i found a few posts where people were talking about representation in the media and how uncommon it is, and because its so uncommon other than on popular social media sites like tiktok I couldn’t really find many posts about self harm so as its still relatively new its really up to me weather I include a trigger warning.
I also contacted Student support at the uni asking for advice about this and sent in my animation. I had a meeting with a member of the team who wasn't sure what a trigger warning was at first but after explaining didn't think I really needed one as its not as though I’m showing them actually cutting (even though I am getting close) though She also said she would understand if I wanted to be cautious and add one.
In the end I decided against adding a trigger warning as this loop was more for information purposes and representing the more realistic side of self-harm.
