When Silence Abandoned Me
Silence had left this place long ago
Nebulous voices thronged
the inner walls of my closed lips.
Fleeting images projected
On the black screens of my eyelids
Shutting myself down only meant
Mayhem rising within
Silence was once my best friend.
He sang sweet songs,
told beautiful stories,
and cracked lame jokes
while we had black coffee.
He cuddled with me at night,
Carefully stroked my hair,
tucked me in my blanket
and kissed me Goodnight.
He always stood by me,
But now,
Silence is a long lost friend.
He visits on rare occasions
with an aloof smile,
constantly reminding me,
that he won't stay for long.
He has changed...
His words are drenched in nonchalance.
I cannot feel his presence anymore
I feel like I am left alone.
I find myself,
standing beside an ocean
with no one around.
I see him walk away from me,
as the ocean awaits to swallow me.
I find myself,
stuck inside a glass case,
brimming with indistinct noises.
I see him standing outside,
making me crave for him.
I find myself,
caged inside a room,
congested with luminous while light.
As I look out of the window,
I see him turn his back on me.
What has happened to him?
Why is he doing this to me?
Has he even noticed me lately?
Heartbeats rising,
sending shivers down my spine,
clenched fists, untied hair,
teary red eyes
sleeplessly staring at the ceiling....
Sometimes I gaze out of the window,
Looking at absolutely nothing.
This place, where he left me,
suffocates me...
I find it hard
to breathe in here...
Those images,
So lustrous, yet deceiving
Those possibilities,
So tempting, yet misleading
Those noises,
So cozy, yet terrifying..
This place contradicts itself
I don't feel safe anymore
I drown in those emotions I detest,
I remember things I want to forget,
and reality strikes me with a sword.
Dear Silence,
I cannot survive in here without you...
I need you to take me in your arms,
so that I can close my eyes
and see those black screens once again...
