Yo what the fuck. I slapped a silly little reel together a couple days back and it's gone 40x more viral than anything I ever posted before. Very strange feeling. Nearly 80,000 people have spent a collective 250 hours of their lives watching this dumb little video.

Planing a cupped body blank flat because the CNC was busy and the thicknesser is only 10" wide. My vintage record plane made, well, not quick work of it but certainly good work. Always makes me feel cool af working with hand tools, like yes I am the cool lesbian that does woodworking. 😎

Rear cavities and roundover done with the new Triton router. Contours and final sanding then ready for finish I think!

Hard to see the flame figuring in the sassafras on the left, but it's there, and the grain around the knot on the front face is gorgeous. So so so stoked with bow it's all turning out.

Poplar strat ultra body whipped up on the CNC. Routed it more traditionally first to test the toolpaths for the single piece flamed sassafras that's also gonna happen soon.

Build #3 — Polaris

First proper go at custom inlays, and the finish is a custom color firestorm effect that I think I've perfected. The guy that did the finishes for fender in the 90s hasn't responded to my emails so I had to reverse engineer it. A huge step forward in my lutherie abilities.

Specs: Vaguely precision bass inspired body, reverse custom headstock, Seymour Duncan musicman pickups, milspec tefzel wiring, magnetic cavity covers, swamp kauri and maple neck, custom inlays, hipshot hardware, Grainger Guitar parts ferrule block and theaded inserts for the neck. All in all, fucking insane. But it works, somehow, in the end. This has already been up on stage multiple times, it's such an honor to make something so integral for a gigging musician! 🤘 (Also the owner happens to be my brother, so it's nice to know I made something he likes and treasures.)

This worked perfectly first try. Not out of the weeds yet, but we're nearing the finish line. 2 musicman pickups, with shared series/parallel/split, into blend control, into volume+Killswitch, into mode toggle (optionally through a 3 band active eq) into output. I need to stop thinking for a while. 😵‍💫
