“All sources indicate that Starr was the one Beatle with whom all the other members had the easiest friendship. Easygoing, funny, and unburdened by a large ego, Starr’s relationships with all his fellow Beatles were less complicated than their relationships with each other. Starr initially roomed with McCartney on tour and, even in the midst of the Beatles breakup was outspoken about his affection for the other man...Starr’s relationship with Harrison was very close. Harrison had been the key figure pushing for Starr’s entry into the band, earning Starr’s gratitude: according to Lewisohn they shared ‘a viscerally close and fundamental bond.’ Davies also emphasized [Starr and Lennon's] bond: ‘John was in many ways closer to Ringo than any of the other Beatles,’ arguing that was, in part, because ‘Ringo wasn’t in any way a rival — whereas Paul was as a songwriter and George was as a guitarist.’”
