The Lophidons are the 3rd sophont species discovered on the planet Craidaca, contacted in the year 3825. These humble, semi-aquatic swamp dwelling people are still poorly understood due to their relatively low numbers, a result of prolonged conflict with their planet's most dominant intelligent species, the almighty Mobeleth. Lophidons interact with their environment using a claw-like structure at the end of their extendable radula, a feature originally used for striking and grasping prey by their animal ancestors. All their known languages incorporate occasional clicks produced using this structure. The majority of Lophidons are adherents of an intricate, ancient religion that exists almost solely in the spoken word, with no specific scriptures chronicling its extensive fundamentals. Interestingly enough, this theology interprets the Mobeleth as generally benevolent beings who were put on their world to keep Lophidons humble, a righteous punishment from their gods for past transgressions of their ancestors who committed heinous sins at the dawn of their creation. They believe that without the Mobeleth keeping them in their place, their kind would once again become victims to pride and create a "hell on earth" for which their gods will not forgive, resulting in an apocalyptic event referred to as "Sidsamari" in hushed tongues. In the intergalactic community of The Ecosystem, Lophidons are generally known for their pious ways and are commonly seen as preachers and missionaries making an effort to spread their word throughout the universe, most often in the form of "Malak-Tarsha", a gentrified variant of their belief system that also heavily incorporates aspects of several other culture's religions, most notably Human "Hinduism" and Skalatite "Syncasics".
